PS3 New and Totaly lost and Overwelmed

Hi im new here (obvious). Not sure were to get start and could use a hand, I have an unmodded ps3 model CECH-5501A. Not sure if its an ok model but its what I have. What I want to do with this PS3 is play my ps1-2 games witch have been backed up .I have an extra 1 tb wd ssd that can use as an upgrade as well I can also can add a 10 tb external HD for storage for the iso. What steps do I need to do ? do I upgrade to the latest firmaware 4.92.2 ? or is there a better older firmware? What to i need to jailbreak or is there a custom firmware upgrade that would be recommended. Witch program do i need once jailbroken to play my old ps1-2 iso

small update .I was able to jailbrake and install evilnat 4.92.2 with help from mistermario2011 guide . now can any one sugest best way to migrate data from old internal hd to new 1 tb ssd?

and you can switch the drive easily.

OFW is not numbering that way. Are you sure your PS3 is(was :P) unmodded?

why not use a SSD? Its my third year that I have SSD and the game loading speeds are greatly reduced

SSDs are not compatible with the PS3. Your case is the exception, not the rule, and the performance gain is not that much.

Due to many aren't compatible. Last time I read that some guy bought exact same SSD model for his another PS3 and turned out to be incompatible (it seems producer changed something in firmware and/or controller which causing issues in PS3). So it is always Russian roulette.

Guess I can share that I used and got good results with Samsung 870 Evo 1TB SSD so you'd all know there's a chance it might work.

yes its was fresh slim model. so far the unit seems to running good with custom firm wareon the 1 tb wd ssd

It was already on the list. ;] However, you didn't tell us the model, only marketing name series which covering various of different models.
