New IDPS and PSID

So after a getting console banned a year ago and just using my PS3 offline ever since, I decided to extract my own IDPS and PSID from a dead console as I want to access PSN on CFW again.

Question: I know changing the IDPS regains PSN access, but is it necessary to spoof PSID as well on a fresh and newly created account?

Question: Why is the PSID needed at all? Is it just the unique ID for a PSN account like the IDPS is for the console?

afaik, the psid is half of the cid with the idps being the other half. however, iirc, based on what I read on psdevwiki, the cid can be derived in several ways even giving different results. @bitsbubba was banned a while back, and I believe he only needed the idps.

I guess, if you change your IDPS, then log in with same account details as before, it will generate new PSID and be fine.

To be honest though, you should probably just make a new account and start fresh, might be a bit dodgy to log in with an account that has been used on a banned console.

I'm not 100% sure if the PSID needs to match the IDPS, maybe it does, but I can tell you from experience that I have been spoofing both for well over a year now, and I never tried to use a PSID generated by the same console as my IDPS's. In fact my current IDPS is from a phat and I extracted the PSID from a save I made on an old slim console. I always remove syscalls and spoof my CID, never needed PSN patch, and I am VERY careful what customized files I use online. As a result I have never been banned :) so I have my doubts about the IDPS needing to match the PSID.

So if I'm using PSNPatch (plugin) with a fresh, brand new PSN account, I shouldn't need the PSID to go along with the IDPS I extracted as it will generate a new PSID?

So I can just set idps=<Insert_IDPS_Here> and leave psid=000... with all 0's and all should be OK?

Yeah I think the PSID gets generated when you make the account, if memory serves. As long as you remove syscalls with webMAN or the like, and spoof your IDPS or have one ready to replace yours, in my experience PSN patch isn't even necessary. Seems like it's just a quick way to take all the precautions I take with webMAN MOD already. Just delete syscalls each time you go online and spoof your CID, and steer clear of your banned account.

I think the biggest cause of banns is CID stealers, since I use almost no custom files online and have been fine so far. So be careful what you install if you intend to run it online.

PSID has nothing to do with unbanning your IDPS, don't mess with it. it makes 0 difference as far as going online.
Spoofing your PSID doesn't seem to cause any harm, and I have read online that some forms of account banns bann with this ID. I know a few times I have been kicked from PSN for being laggy on my old shitty internet, usually that type of thing can last an hour or more. But then I just change my PSID and I can log back in lol though who knows, maybe it was just coincidence, but it worked all 4 times I tried this method.

I remember vitadevwiki stating that the idps and psid are for online/offline purposes respectively. the cid is determined with both idps and the psid, but this is only true using a specific method. the cid I'm thinking of is the method on psdevwiki.

The idps and psid are both given to a console by sony at factory, part of the 3 ids (idps, psid and mac).
Idps is used when going onto psn on your ticket as an identifier.
Psid is used for game save data and other non online activity (and most likely store bought games license).
Mac is same as any mac address.

In my opinion it would be safer to change all 3 forms of id if you get banned (just seems logical to me).
Although to access psn again after a ban you only need to change idps.
Many people have done just that and not had another issue for a prolonged periods of time (depends on online activity).

Thank you everyone. Your input has truly made me understand a bit more about PSID.

So from what I've gathered here in this topic so far is; you should be OK to either set the PSID spoof on but it isn't necessary and won't effect anything if it isn't.

I just tried my new IDPS this morning (I haven't had time to play any games for the past week+) and the PSID was already set to spoof so I just logged in with the credentials of a fresh PSN account I made using the PlayStation store on my PC and all was good. :encouragement:

I don't mod online. I've always behaved as a regular user and now that I'm using my own personally extracted ID's, I am hoping it lasts a good while.

I've been doing a bit of research about new CID's after being banned a few times. And it seems the length between each ban is getting shorter. And just came across this thread.

I extract CID's from YLOD or faulty consoles. Obtaining a fresh IDPS, PSID, & MAC ADDRESS from that console.

I use webMAN mod to change/spoof my new IDPS & PSID. But have only found one way to change MAC ADDRESS which involves downgrading to 3.55. I encountered a slight issue with this process. I have tried to remedy this issue by trialing a few things and a lot of searching for an answer but no luck. Usually i have been able resolve CFW issues from threads on this site but doesn't seem be much about it.

Is there easier way to change MAC ADDRESS or DOWNGRADING to 3.55 without having to reformat hard drive?

I created a thread explaining my current process and issue i ran into. Currently awaiting ideas or remedies.
'How To Change Mac Address?/ Downgrade To 3.55 via XMB Update Via Storage Media.'

Sorry to jump in on a query with my own query...
Hope i haven't broken any rules or offend anyone by doing so.

not sure about changing the mac address. I remember being able to do that with the psp, and adrenaline for the vita has it hidden by default.

understanding the psid is confusing, because there doesn't seem to be a clear way of doing so. the idps and the psid are the cid together, but online only focuses on the idps afaik. I tried dumping my cid on the vita, and the idps was always the same, but the psid would change for some reason, even if dumping twice with the same app.

edit: here's some stuff about the cid: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Console_ID

one way to look at is: idps = online; psid = offline. I remember reading about that on vitadevwiki or whatever it's called now. that's the easiest way to understand the purpose of each, but it's still pretty complicated especially if dump the cid.

One thing you should always keep in mind: IDPS bought online is always useless. If your getting banned more often, that is probably why. When you buy an IDPS online, your not the only one being sold that number, and they will keep selling it until it gets banned. 100 people using the same IDPS with get banned 100x as fast, ALWAYS rip a private IDPS from dead consoles or at least a console only you have access too. And I don't think changing your mac address matters even with game-specific banns, but I could be wrong.

Also, CoD - BO2 and GTAV will get you banned on CFW, even if you have the official disc. Use the PSN version of BO2, that's safe, I got mine via zeuslinks. Careful with games from the GTA and CoD series, make sure they are safe before you install. BO1 is safe, fyi.

that's the scary thing about buying a used system. I've been keeping my eye on the nintendo switch scene, and there are a lot of people getting banned. it makes me wonder if these people are selling the consoles to say, gamestop, only to have an unsuspecting buyer find out that the console is banned or will be banned due to what the previous owner did. I've even heard of game cartridges themselves being banned. it's a mine zone.

We don't have Gamestops in Canada, however, PNP Games always checks if a console is banned at least, and so do I when I buy my consoles. Local classifieds is always the way to go, you get some amazing deals. My last deal: 20 games inclusing GTAV, mint console, mint controllers and move controllers, mint cords and it was a 250XX series, all for 70 bucks ;) not to mention a new IDPS. I got 5 of them now, and have still never been banned after nearly 2 years on CFW.

If your getting banned often your doing something wrong. Or (and this is real nasty) somebody might be filching your IDPS codes. Ofc this can happen via mods, but I have seen it happen physically too.
