PS3 New member — returning to legacy PS3 SACD ripping (CECHA01) and need advice on tools

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member here, but not new to PS3 hardware. I recently pulled out a CECHA01 (hardware SACD capable) to build a fully offline, deterministic SACD ripping setup for archival purposes.

I've spent the last few weeks reading older PSX-Place and Doom9 material and want to sanity-check my understanding before I make any irreversible changes.

From what I can tell:
• The last standalone, XMB-launchable SACD-Ripper builds were v0.36 / v0.37
• These predate the daemon/network model introduced later
• Modern Evilnat + daemon workflows appear less deterministic for fully offline ISO extraction, at least from what I've been able to verify.
• Older Rebug-era workflows (4.84/4.85) were the stable baseline

My goal is not network ripping or experimentation — just reliable ISO extraction to internal HDD/USB from SACDs I own.

My questions for those who were around when this was current:
  1. Is my understanding about 0.36 / 0.37 being the last "simple" SACD-Ripper builds still correct?
  2. Are these PKGs still floating around in personal archives, or is this effectively lost software at this point?
  3. If there's a better modern offline approach I've missed, I'm open to hearing it.
I'm deliberately holding off on firmware changes until I confirm the toolchain still exists.

I'm deliberately trying to replicate the older, XMB-only workflow rather than adapt newer daemon-based approaches.

Thanks in advance — and apologies if this is retreading old ground. I'm trying to do this carefully and respectfully.

Not sure if it can work on later firmware's, but here is a thread in the forum, might be helpful with some info on SACDs if you have not read it yet:

Thanks for the links.

I downloaded the Brewology SACD Ripper v0.36 PKG
(sacd-ripper.pkg.888.v0.36_brewology.com.pkg) and confirmed it matches the copy I already archived.

Before I change firmware or install anything:

Is this Brewology v0.36 PKG the original standalone XMB SACD ripper that writes ISO locally to HDD or USB?

Or is this part of the later daemon/network-based workflow?

I'm specifically trying to confirm that the original standalone ISO extraction method still exists before proceeding with any firmware rollback.
