No video after 4.88 update

My PS3 was running fine today until I installed the 4.88 update so that I could get online to download a game. Now I'm getting no video, but the audio is fine. I'm familiar with safe mode, and trying to go there now just leads to another black screen, so I can't access the settings. I've tried different HDMI cables, run them into all of my TV's inputs, run them through all of my surround receiver's inputs, run them through my HDMI splitter, made sure the inputs were selected properly on the TV...nothing works. My PS4, PS5, & Switch all still work fine. Since it was working fine literally one second earlier, it was definitely the update that broke the video. Does anyone have any idea what to do, or do I need to send it to Sony & pay their $90 fee? Sony doesn't support it anymore in their customer service. Also, my system wasn't modded.

plug in the hdmi again and try video reset. if it doesnt work, plug in other cable and use video reset again.

to do video reset: start with ps3 off. press and hold power button until you hear second beep.

OK, this is really strange....I actually tried that multiple times, but it never helped. And then when you suggested it, I decided to try once more, and it suddenly worked!!! I have no clue how that happened, but thank you for your mysterious help! :)
