PS2 Non Magic Gate Memory Cards Not Working

Hey everyone,

I finally got Free MCBoot working with my SCPH-15000. Only 1.94 works, and although the text is garbled on the browser, I can still use OPL and boot games from the SCPH-20400 HDD.

My problem is I have ordered 3 separate Free MCBoot cards online, and I have created different versions using non Sony cards, and none of them work.
I only have 1 working Sony 8MB Magic Gate card, and its the one working.
Am I just out of luck using non Sony cards? Is it common for knock off cards not to work? Or is it due to having a "protokernel" model that it requires an original Magic Gate card?

Isn't i said it before that 10k series are very picky about memory card?

I said it before that 10k series only work with genuine sony card or third party "licensed" and not fake ones for me. So it is consistent results with mine.

Remove extra symbols from FREEMCB.CNF or use one from R4D and "garbled" text will disappear.

Do not buy cards with preinstalled FMCB, it is pointless. Just buy MMCE.

MG is mandatory to properly sign XLFs for OSD Update for MC.
