PS3 (noob) Jailbroken and downloaded games thru PSstore

I'm new to this whole jailbreaking thing so please bare with me, I'm learning bit by bit.

I dusted off my old PS3 after many years dormant (last game played was AC: Black Flag), cleaned it up and with new thermal paste, the fan was still acting up like a jet engine. So I JB'd it and installed webman to control the fan speed. While jailbroken I was bored one night and so I downloaded GTA V through their store but I once it was finished I couldn't find the game so it wouldn't let me install it. I reverted back to the OFW and there it was.

So I wanted to buy a few more digital games thru their store before they close up in July, am I gonna have to stay on the OFW for me to download and install their games or is there a package I can use?

Sony's Playstation Store is only closing for PSP. PS3 and Vita games will still be sold. they were going close, but Sony changed their mind.

Ooh that's great! Thanks for that updated info. But as far as not being able to install the game, is that a symptom of having a CFW?

i am not sure what happened there. if you had refreshed the XMB (by opening and closing an app or different game), maybe the game icon would have appeared.

What CFW did you install? It's quite possible the the install package 'bubble' for GTA V is under Package Manager > PlayStation Network Content. I know Rebug does this, to tidy up the XMB if you are downloading multiple games from the PS Store at once.

CFW 4.87.2 Evilnat Cobra [CEX]

And I did look there and the gta bubble wasn't there. It only appeared after going back the the official FW

That's strange; I've never seen that before. Most of my PSN games I installed before I jailbroke and went to CFW, but I've still installed a few while on CFW (not recommended) and had none of them disappear.

So, you are still on OFW 4.87? If you're already on 4.88 then you won't yet be able to re-patch and install CFW.

I found it strange too. No, once I was able to install GTA V I went back to patching and installing Cobra, I'm back on 4.87 CFW. I'm not touching 4.88 since webman is the only thing keeping my PS3 from flying away.

Well glad you got it working in the end, and yeah best thing to do is stay on 4.87 CFW until a 4.87 CFW emerges. Also yeah wMM's dynamic fan control is a great feature. For playing GTA V it will be beneficial to the console over the SYSCON vanilla fan profile
