NTFS External Drive not showing up in PS3 Root as dev_usb000

I'm fairly new to homebrew on the PlayStation 3 and have come across this issue I'm facing with my formatted drive. I was messing around with an external drive and can boot a game no problem in iso format, however I can't get the drive to show up in multiMan in the desktop. When I click on file manager/mmOS it brings me to dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp. Has anyone faced this before? The drive I'm using is set as so MBR>NTFS>1.80TB.

Typically, NTFS drives are mounted as dev_ntfs0, not dev_usb000. Can you see your drive with another file manager? It's likely an issue with multiMAN's NTFS support. ManaGunZ and Irisman are usually better at handling NTFS formatted devices.

multiman supports mounting iso on ntfs partitions however ntfs partitions are not fully supported by mmOS.
There is a PFS driver bringing read-only ntfs partition support, some usb devices are not recognised though.
Iirc the PFS driver can only be used in regular multiman mode (not in mmCM for Cobra), you can find the option in the mmOS menu.
If your USB device is not detected by mmOS when you enable the PFS driver, you could try adding a USB.CFG file in the multiman folder with the disk device ID in it to help the PFS driver identify the disk & mount the ntfs partitions on it. You can get the device ID from Windows in the device properties. But in my experience, when a disk isn't automatically detected by the PFS driver, adding the id in USB.CFG had never seemed to help.

All other file managers in backup managers like Irisman, Managunz, webMAN-MOD, sMan etc.. use a full NTFS driver library & offer read/write ntfs support. I would use them instead to manage files if I were you.

Btw /dev_usbXXX mount points are usually reserved to USB FAT partitions.
Backup managers use different mount points for NTFS partitions.

Hey there thanks for the reply, I've been using my HDD and have since then chose to use an external one for more flexibility with my games. I can get webman to show my stuff (although I used prepNTFS reader prior to plugging it in), I'll probably leave things be for now but I'll definitely try tomorrow. Thanks for the input!

That's a good question, I'll try that and checkup on whether or not I can get it to show in FTP client.

I have webman mod show my games on the playstation 3 folder as ntfs/PS3ISO so that's a plus. In multiman I don't have the same options as games on a hdd on my ps3 like deleting, copying, and extracting. However the external drive shows up in FTP as ntfs_00 without booting up to regular multiman mode but can't access the file. All my games seem to be in dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp when I checked on file manager. I guess my best bet is to try another File manager to save myself the trouble.
