PS3HEN NXEngine (cave story) not working properly

game launches just as normal, title screen and opening cutscene works perfectly, but when you start a new game, bullets seems to freeze agaisnt walls with no collision, and enemies seems frozen, because of the weird bullet behaviour, making it past the first cave is impossible thus, making the game unplayable, i got the game from the "content downloader" and im using the retroarch community edition

help is very appreciated

Try using the standalone version and see if it is dump or app related.
 
the nxengine core that can be downloaded/is bundled in is completely broken, the title screen looks fine, but as soon as you click new game it all comes tumbling down, nothing is animated (except the computer monitor & health station) the game is unplayable since the enemies don't move, and your bullets can't kill them, and the breakable blocks don't break, trapping you, from what I've read, it also happens on the wii u, ps2 and psvita, the brewology version has nxengine 1.0.0.4 (as opposed to CE's 1.0.0.6, and it works as intended, I tried putting the .self from the brewology version into the CE version, but is just gets stuck on a black screen, the reason whi I don't want to use the brewology version is because I'd like to have all my cores and games under one icon in the xmb, I also haven't been able to find a download for another 1.0.0.4 self, but had no luck finding it, can someone help me with this?, sorry in advance

CE is not v1.0.0.6 . Its much greater then that. i cant recall exact version but PS3 had a long absence from any official or unofficial builds after v1.0.0.4. That is when RetroArch underwent a complete rewrite and brought a new UI like XMB then eventually ozone.
You wont be able to swap SELF from those versions as they are much different. Now closer related version you can (at least back then you could, i am sure you could as well with closer related version's.)

but you wont be able to use those SELF's in CE

v1.0.0.2 and .0.4 should be closely related i believe 0.4 just had some additional BETA cores in them. but could be some other changes as well, but they are fairly close and i know cores can be swapped. Retroarch will just boot into that version when that core is launched, if memory serves me right.

Edit:
I did the repack on brewology a very long time ago.
I thought it was a v1.0.0.4 core but description i have 1.0.0.2 core listed.
(maybe i updated it and forgot to update the release notes)
