It is a very obsolete emulator.
Support for it is no longer maintained.
I have added it only for fun.
If you want to use other PS1 emulator try POPStarter.

This emulator is designed to support PSX (PS1 Games) backups and play them on your PS2 via USB, Network, or Internal HDD.

  • Only full 2352 bytes per sector images are supported.
By default only ccd, cue and bin files are displayed (case sensitive!),
but pressing R2 will remove the extension mask and display all files.

  • You can get back from emulated game to the GUI by using a combo
    :but l1: + :but l2: + :but r1: + :but r2: +:dir up: .
  • By default the PS2PSXe is using bios/scph7502.bin.
If you want to use a different bios file, this is the option you need to use.

Please do not ask where you can find this file.
Use DuckDuckGo, Google, Bing... to find it.
  • ffgriever:
The last time I checked, ePSXe was a closed source project. So obviously not, it wasn't based on it. The very first versions (non-public) were based on pcsx, but it wasn't working well on PS2 (7-12 fps). So I said to myself "why not have some fun" and started from scratch, trying to get as much as possible from the very beginning (still, I would do it completely different if I were to start over again - man learns all the time).

Your question have no sense. ;) GUI (menu only) is separated from CLI versions (emulators), so GUI can be any, launching any of the versions.

Actually it is not so obvious as this is the only app on PS2 which have "external gui", or rather I should say, GUI made for CLI app.

And PS2PSXe is not so much obsolete. There are titles which works fine, with anti antialiasing x2 and higher resolution, something which POPS will never get.

My GUI allows you to use pre-202 and 202 all in the same folder and have per-game-settings, including which emulator version to use.
So... PS2SX includes all the public PS2PSXe versions in one handy GUI.
