Hello,
it's the first time that I try this operation, I have an old

ps3 fat cechL04 with ofw 4.82.

I'd like to upgrade to ferrox 4.83.

question: for ferrox 4.82 there is a rather laborious procedure with dump etc ...
can you skip this whole procedure with this new cfw? (as I've understood reading this)

CFW CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Built on the base of OFW 4.83 SONY.
  • PSN / SEN Enabled.
  • Ability to Update from any CFW (CEX).
  • Possibility of Update from OFW 3.55 "And from original firmware 4.82 [PS3Xploit exploit - compatible consoles only]"
  • Possibility of Downgrade from any CFW with active QA Flags.

(in the videos they only show that they pass from 4.82 to 4.83 without problems ... but those 4.82 are already of the cfw or are they ofw?
thank you

No, you have to do the exploit exactly as it is described. I did it on a friend's ps3, (mine was already jailbroken before 4.82) and it took about 15 minutes, after i sat down and read the instructions carefully and saw a video on YT explaining the whole procedure. If you are not cool and straight-thinking when doing it, don't do it. with a clear mind, it's a piece of cake.

No. installing CFW on any hackable PS3 involves a flash dump, patching it and then writing it back to the PS3. Its doesn't matter method you use, whether it's using a Hardware flasher or the software webkit exploit, they need a dump from the flash memory.

It's hardly laborious; it's a series of straight-forward steps that need to be followed. In fact, PS3Xploit 2.0 is an improvement over the original exploit - which is what many of us used to jailbreak our PS3s - allowing less room for user error and streamlining the process.

This guide has everything you need to know about jailbreaking your PS3.

The approach to jailbreaking with ps3xploit Flash Writer 2.0 should be quite simple actually.
Our instructions were designed with care to avoid any brick issues, consequently, not a single one of them should be omitted unless you wish the exploitation to fail or any user error you might make turn into a partially bricked console.
I doubt you would consider skipping steps if you were following a hardware flasher tutorial & there is no reason to adopt a different approach to a software flasher.
But of course the ultimate choice is yours, you can follow someone else's steps, skip laborious procedures, but you do so at your own risk.

I'm not sure how many bricks I've helped fix and not one of them followed your instructions. I've yet to see someone follow your guide to the letter and have any real problems.

Its as easy as finding out if your motherboard on your fat is a nand or nor, flashing the .hex file through a photo save, then rebooting the ps3 and then updating to the latest rebug. Its not rocket science at all right now.
