Hi Everyone

As a newbie (nob). With running cfw I`m guessing I can`t just install cfw 4.80 or replacing ofw4.80 to cfw 4.81. I`m trying to make heads and tails from where I go about it without bricking my unit. I`ve used a checker for my 2503A reported back ok. Thanks from a member that had put a Dload link within the site. To check a unit out.

So where do I go from him. Is there a link on video examples what I need to. As the site is new to me finding my way around. Even post this under jailbreak. I`m not 100% sure. I always believe if in doubt ask.

No problem, just be careful and make sure you follow all steps exactly, do some research and learn about what you're about to do before jumping into it.

I don't know how high the chances of a console brick are if you don't do it right but I'm sure there's always a chance.
 
Cheers Ashmund. I`ve done bios hacks and added micro code into them. Most 8/16bit flashes done on consoles. Checked a number of videos out just found in the comments fake or it didn't work. Cobra Pcbs I cant find

I'm still a little fuzzy. So can I use a formatted usb stick with fat32 file system. As normal. Make the dir ps3/update/*.pup , where I'm fuzzy is do I run a cfw4.80 or do a update to ofw4.82 then run cfw4.80 or from ofw4.80 to cfw4.82. There is so much I need to know. What my goal is to play my nes,snes,ms,md,arcade etc games . All other ps3 games etc I play on my other ps3 and ps2. It's just to them oldskool games. Cheers for every thing so far
 
There's a lot to read up in the links provided ;)
Follow the steps carefully and you will install 4.82 ofw (twice) and any 4.82 cfw :)

For retro games check out retroarch, I have used it but I'm far from being an expert on that.
 
Thank you lord. Would I be cheeky by asking is there any 4.82ofw on the site. I feel like a baby starting from the beginning how to drink,walk,etc

btw my system slim 2503A this bit gets me wth. Nor Nand etc???. With the nintendon`t a good few years ago add clip there was not much to them. Wow the Ps loves a lot of install flags etc
 
I believe as said above, you need to install 4.82 OFW twice then install CFW, the links provided should give you the information to jailbreak your PS3, I have a PS3 with HAN because I cannot jailbreak it, so I personally have no experience with jailbreaking.

You need to install ofw 4.82 twice before using the Flash Writer tool to avoid getting a potential error in rare cases during cfw installation. To fix that error you can either reformat the internal hdd on PC or just reinstall 4.82 ofw & redo the entire flashing process.
It's just easier to avoid such a situation by installing 4.82 ofw twice at the beginning!

Removing the disc from BD might not really be so important nowadays as I don't think there is a single retail disc using the 4.83 PUP file. But disconnecting the Internet is wise to avoid 4.83 getting downloaded & installed instead of 4.82.

Go slowly, if you use my step by step, make sure you follow every detail to the letter because every instruction is there for a very good reason.
Don't switch off or reboot the console after flashing the NOR until you have a fully validated dump with pyps3checker. In case of problem (ie more than one ROS warning in the validation stage), leave the console on & contact us.
