Oh dear looks like a brick 42min no change of screen and the units locked up.

Nice of tried getting this working but have failed lol. When we can clip the chip and flash it then I will give it another shot some day.

Cheers for everyone's help

Well this is odd. Just had a power cut even tho the operation hadn't finished and was hanging. Just switch the ps3 on its booted up.

1. The Flash Dumper cannot brick the system since it only reads from it & makes no changes. Only the Flash Writer could partially brick a system if badly used.
2. 42mn lock up basically means it hanged somehow which isn't possible unless something is wrong (omitted step, wrong file versions etc..)
3. If you live in a place where power cuts are common, I recommend that you take extra care, no matter whether you use a software or hardware flasher to jailbreak your console.

Obviously you are not following the instructions correctly otherwise you would not have one issue after another.. The whole jailbreak procedure should take about 30mn at most & is guaranteed to work as long as you follow every step correctly.

FYI, you seem under the wrong impression that using a hardware flasher is easier although it's not & can even lead to permanent bricking if badly handled.
If you are not capable to jailbreak your console with the Flash Writer using this simple step by step, I suggest extreme caution with a hardware flasher!!!

Hi bguerville

I'm trying really hard to follow any step by step as I'm going from pillow to post with links. Having a disability and being dyslexic is hard work. If I seem to be rude or comming across like a punk. I'm sorry I can't help this. I can't type it in 95% of the time. I have to speak it. The unit locked up during the write process. As for power cuts. It's once in a blue moon here. Not much of a worry. He says fingers crossed.

As for hardware flasher it's a cake been doing this even before the ps1 came about there are all the same direct link to the hardware and Insert .bin file send. What one's are about.

Here's an example you would say the cat sat on the mat. I would read it as cat sat mat .

Alot of tex to me looks like trying to read a bin file in ms word.

No problem. ;)
You don't come across as anything, not to me anyway, so no worries there.

You should take your time and maybe review the steps & requirements with a friend.

Hi bguerville

Currently your retail console is in CEX mode. DEX is a developer mode which is originally used on debugging stations (development consoles).
Rebug is a hybrid CFW, allowing to switch between the 2 modes on a retail console.
You should stick to using CEX only for gaming, ignore the numerous YT videos & other guides advising people to use DEX as if it was always the better choice, it's not, users should not use DEX as a daily driver unless they are developers or game modders.
