I have one of the launch model PS3 fats with a no HDMI output issue. Initially, the unit would not power on with a YLOD. I hooked up to the syscon (that troubleshooting method is fantastic btw) and from the errors it was throwing (A082120) it was something wrong with the HDMI circuit. Probing around C6320, I found shorted capacitors. After doing some voltage injection at the shorted caps, the thermal camera picked up heat on the Silicon Image SIL9132CBU HDMI encoder (IC2502 I believe). After replacing the HDMI encoder, the errors on the syscon went away and the PS3 powered up. However, there is no HDMI output. The regular composite output seems to work ok though.
The HDMI port seems to be intact. I plan on reflowing the pins just to be on the safe side but I doubt that is the issue. The thermistor TH2501, which I believe is hooked up to one of the pins of the HDMI port isn't blown but the resistance reading across it is 3 ohms with the console cold. I have another OG PS3 Fat that I am trying to use to help troubleshoot this issue has that thermistor measuring around 1.8 ohms but I don't know how sensitive that circuit is so I don't know if the small resistance difference matters. I also checked what I believe to be the filters coming off the RSX (just below it) and what I assume are 4 filters (to the left of the HDMI encoder towards the HDMI port) and they all had continuity across them.
Does anyone happen to have any good troubleshooting step I can go through to try to see what is wrong with this HDMI circuit?
