PS5 Oh my...

well, I've had a few frustrations with hdmi-cec. both the series x and the ps5 seem to have limited options, which don't work too well with my tv. I got my tv back in February, so I'm just starting to learn about hdmi-cec and smart tvs (never owned one), but my ps5 would turn on whenever I turned on the tv, when I pretty much wanted the reverse, tv turning on when I press the playstation button on the ps5 controller. that's why I turned off the option. I can't recall why I turned off the option on the series x, but probably similar frustrations with the options provided.

I don't know which leak you're referring to, but I use that thread to get up-to-date news about the ps5 and then his other thread about the ps4 for the same reason. I try to compile everything that's mentioned, since a lot of things for the ps4 and 5 you're left to compile on your own. I'm a part of three discord servers, but I really only post in one of them (mostly about compiling). there are a lot of people who struggle with it, so I thought I'd share my knowledge on there and here, since I've gotten halfway decent at it. I've gained a lot of knowledge about both systems that way despite not owning a ps4 nor a hackable ps5.

The leak is mentioned in that link, the guy with the majora mask avatar posted the images with it
And seems like is not allowed to share it there, so maybe it is banned here too
Yeah, copyright material, which is against this site's rules too. I never looked for the leak, since I don't really believe in that stuff. That's why I never searched for and downloaded the leaked PS3 sdk's. Gotta be careful about that kind of stuff, because depending on the sort of exploit that comes from it, Sony would likely sue the hackers, based on their NDA. It specifically mentions releases that harm the company or its customers, so that would likely be the end result of a current firmware exploit.

I know there's a right to repair in Europe, not sure about USA. It wouldn't surprise me if SoA could still deny a PS5 with its warranty seal removed.

Well, being able to fix your console without having to send it to Sony would be a good thing. I'm mainly concerned about mass piracy and mass cheating. I've invested thousands of dollars to my game collection, so it doesn't seem very fair, especially when so many in the scenes simply leech. I don't know how many people are in the scenes, maybe up to ten thousand, and it's really the same names when it comes to hacking, development, content distribution, or supporting in any way, and that's not a lot of people. A lot of people don't appear unless they need something. I get those sorts of discord messages all the time, only never to hear from them again, after they've got what they wanted.
