PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

GT4 pad issue is a weird one. It is not clear what causes it yet, not strictly related to OPL version (you can have that problem or not using any OPL version).

i.e. I recently formatted my HDD and re-installed the games back in (using the same installer) and now I need to enable MODE 6 for the pad to work.

Guys I have some doubts that have been plaguing me for some time, I would like to know if I can solve them with an internal hdd, with the disk, or if it is a native problem of the games. I'm talking about the drastic drops in fps in some games, in some points it seems that they go right in slowmotions. So far I've encountered this with Scarface (slowdowns begin as you progress through the first level), Bully (since game start), Tomb Raider Underworld (idem as Scarface), The Getaway Black Monday (it's as if it had constant low fps, the character moves cumbersome and slow, similar to Bully). Tried them in NTSC and PAL versions, in SMB and USB with 3 devices of different brands. Experimented with OPL 1.0, 1.1 and various 1.2 beta versions including the latest 2014 and tried various OPL modes. Slowdowns are always present. Since I currently have no way to try them via disc due to a laser problem, I would like to ask anyone who has played one of these games on disc or internal hdd if they experience slowdowns. I would like to understand if it's an OPL compatibility problem, if it's a SMB/USB mode problem or if it's a native games problem.
I never played Black monday on OPL. I played Bully once and don't remember slowdowns (but it's been a long time ago, I played just a little). The slowdown you have is a sort of heavy stuttering like on GTA SA? On this game OPL introduces stuttering (it's worse on NTSC versions I think). With OPL 0.9.2 the game was smooth.
I couldn't see games from 0.92 and below in any way. From 0.93 the games are there (slowdowns problems for these games persist). I haven't found any guide about 0.92, I don't understand why it doesn't display games. I also tried moving them from the DVD folder to root but that didn't fix it, I wasn't able to test. I'll be doing the disc test soon

This game boots normally through SMB with OPL v1.0.0, v1.1.0 and OPL 1901:

GSM needs to be disabled for Critical Velocity to boot over SMB for me.

To be precise: It should NOT be ENABLED... So vice versa!
So this is actually rather not a game-bug itself.

When SingStar (every version I have like Pop 2009, Anthems, ABBA, '90s) is played on a "phat" PS2 using SMB, the sound from the USB microphone cracks (and the EyeToy image stutter at the same time if turned on) each ~5 seconds. Only the microphone input cracks, the music audio is smooth. It feels like it has something to do with the SMB access and the USB periphals.

In the past it happened with MX4SIO too, but after some performance improvements, it's solved for MX4SIO.

This issue when played using SMB occurs on both a SCPH-39004 & SCPH-50004 phat. But not on a Slim SCPH-77004.

Someone in another thread said the cause probably is that SMB uses the IOP heavily and the "phat" units doesn't have the faster "Deckard" IOP. This problem maybe occurs on all non-Deckard PS2's.

The OPL version I tried with is 1.2.0 beta 2022.

Is a fix possible in the future or is it technically impossible because of the slow IOP?

It's probably possible to get it running better, but for once SMB DOES use a LOT of CPU-Cycles AND the DECKARD doesn't seem to be more performant, but have less latencies (which probably can be decreased even further)!

Is anyone aware of everything or nothing 007 having slowdowns when ran with opl or is that just how the ps2 version is compared to xbox and gamecube? It's been a long time since I played it, on xbox or gamecube let alone ps2 version.

is there a place where you could submit information with game testing results? i didn't find any compatibility info about Gadget & the Gadgetinis (Europe) SLES_528.45, it doesn't run on slims so i decided to test the game myself:

SCPH-90008/OPL 1.0.0/SMB/Modes: 1,3,5. Besides long loading times and weird echo when characters talk(it only occurs during certain moments of dialogue) the game is fully playable.

@1052 I have managed to set up smb. Everything is working correctly. Game list does show up. But when I load max payne 2, it gives me black screen. I'm using opl version 1.1.0 and my ps2 model is scph-90006. Any fix for this? And my model also have a bootleg toxic modchip but I always disable it everytime I turn on the ps2
