OPL (Open PS2 Loader)

PS2 Open PS2 Loader v1.1.0

Tested RRV (from USB and SMB) with another Ps2 slim model (77004), same behavior as the other Ps2 slim.

@jolek Testing SMB (OPL 1319) with the Ps2 slim I noticed a strange behavior. I was trying to play the game with MODE 2 enabled like you.

Pratically enabling MODE 2 the game crashed (BSOD) after the loading screen first time. But then if I reset the Ps2 (just reset not powering off), I can reach the main menu with MODE 2 enabled! And the game don't even start without MODE 2!!

Powering off the Ps2 seems to reset the thing.

It works viceversa too, depending if I enable or not MODE 2 the first time I boot the game. I'll check if with the Fat Ps2 is the same.

Btw with the slim the game doesn't stutter every 10 seconds, even without MODE 2. It plays the same with or without it.

I tested the game with the Ps2 slim (75004). It's definitely a Ps2 related problem. RRV must be one of those games not perfectly compatible with some Ps2 models (newer probably…).

If the Ridge Racer V has got such problems on the SCPH-7500x up, you're right, it could be a DECKARD thing.

Currently I've only access to SCPH-50004.
I can test RRV on Monday with SCPH-77004 through SMB & USB.
Maybe with mode 6 everything will be fine?!

I think MODE 6 doesn't matter anymore, IGR works perfectly.
I was trying MODE 6+3 and other combinations with OPL 1347, but it seems impossible to boot SMB games with that rev.

I remember that some time ago without mode 6 I've some kind of strange problems with sound.
When I've enabled it, everything was fine.

I've also tried mode 1+3+6 but without a success through SMB,
only mode 2 seems to helps me in audio stuttering in intro, main menu...

I'll try this game with mode 2+6 ASAP (at Monday).

With both the Ps2 slim there's no stutter at all, no need of MODEs. Simply the audio in the intro is "metallic" and on main menu it seems an old vinyl record (as you can hear in the video I posted).

"Ridge Racer V" (RRV), l'avez-vous testé avec la manette "NegCon" de NAMCO ???
C'est un vrai plaisir de jouer à ce jeu avec cette manette. Le jeu est vraiment adapté à cette manette, j'en ai deux depuis mes débuts avec la PlayStation-1 (dite SCPH7502). J'ai toujours été ravi de jouer à des jeux PS1 qui étaient compatibles avec cette manette et là, c'est un vrai régal !!!

I have always known that controller, it was in the manual of my first Ps1 game (Air Combat). However I never had one of them.

You have a 39004 Ps2 right?? Could you please test RRV (doesn't matter if USA or PAL) from SMB with MODE 2 ON??

See if you can reach the main menù.

@Tupakaveli Which Ps2 model you have?? Are you sure the music is 100% perfect at the beginning (it's very difficult to notice, it takes a fine ear). It can help you to notice possible unprecisions to enter the option menu as soon as the main menu appear, listen 2 secs,. then exit to the main menu listening carefully...

I'm using SCPH-50002.

I definitely don't have the audio problems present in your video. Switching between the Main Menu and the Options screen causes no change.

No wait. The video is related to the Ps2 slim (as you can see at the end). On the Fat is hardly noticeable (I could try to make a video, but with my phone recording quality, probably, you would not be able to hear the issue.).

However it's possible that with the 5000X the audio is just perfect.

There's another thing too that could matter. I was testing the PAL version before (from SMB) and the music isn't that bad as the USA version, even with the Ps2 slim (maybe the 50hz refresh rate makes the main menu animation lighter?? I don't know).

The Bouncer is still broken from iHDD. Tried it with MODE 6 (hoping to can normally power-off the ps2 in case of crash…).

The game started, showed some logos then freezed in a BSOD (I had to hard-power-off the Ps2, MODE 6 did not help).

I honestly can't hear anything wrong with it on my console.

With the FAT (39004) the music is almost perfect.
It should be PERFECT, not "almost perfect".

I never had any audio issues in the past. It should not matter what FAT model is being used, nor should it matter whether it's 50 or 60 Hz.

BTW, are you using the TV speakers? Because it that's the case, it's possible they cause the distortions you hear.

"Ridge Racer V" (RRV), did you test it with the NAMCO "NegCon" controller???
It is a real pleasure to play this game with this controller. The game is really adapted to this controller, I've had two since I started with the PlayStation-1 (called SCPH7502). I have always been delighted to play PS1 games that were compatible with this controller and this one is a real treat!

Wow, I almost forgot about that controller.
I've only see it on videos.
It should be compatible with some PS1 and few PS2 games:

I actually thought the same thing.

I'm sure this is not the problem. The tv has very good speakers and I said I listen to it with the earphones too.

Plus the music is perfect if I enter the option screen. In main menu too it seems to stabilize after some secs. I'll see if my phone can record it.

The TV is old and the capacitors are surely not that great, not to mention the actual physical strain the speakers had on them through all those years. I wouldn't be so sure.

What's sure is that the FAT model has nothing to do with this and the music must be perfect from iHDD, not "almost perfect".

This might only happen with certain frequencies.

Tested The Bouncer SLUS_200.69 via internal HDD with OPL r1347.

The game loads and plays fine without any Modes.

You're right, the problem was the VMC for me. Could you try enabling a VMC if you can reach the main menu??

About the need to hard-power-off it was actually MODE 6 causing it. With MODE 6 enabled this game don't allow my Ps2 to be normally powered-off.

With MODE 6 OFF all is fine (IGR works and Ps2 power button too, even after the BSOD).
