OPL (Open PS2 Loader)

PS2 Open PS2 Loader v1.1.0

I decided to give an end to our curiosity. Thanks to Redump project we now have a definite answer. I search in their cuesheet PS2 archive from http://redump.org/downloads/

A simple search for "TRACK 02" (meaning the cuesheet has 2 or more tracks) in the cuesheet gave us the holy grail of 12 games:

Bonjour vous tous : Les 40 dernières lignes du fichier de langage en Français ne sont pas traduites. Acceptez-vous que je vous les fournisse et que certains d'entre-vous me disent qu'elles sont correctes car je n'utilise que très peu OPL (passage aux PS3 et PS4 oblige).

Hello everyone: The last 40 lines of the French language file are not translated. Would you be willing to let me provide them and have some of you confirm they are correct, as I rarely use OPL (due to the switch to PS3 and PS4)?

Prince of Persia games PAL versions has broken cutscenes in SMB mode in progressive scan.
SLES_519.18 (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time)
SLES_528.22 (Prince of Persia: Warrior Within)
SLES_537.77 (Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones)

And these games won't launch too
SCES_503.61 (Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy)
SLES_500.48 (Disney's Donald Duck: Quack Attack)
SCES_524.12 (Jackie Chan Adventures)
SLES_538.26 (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent)

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Use Custom ELF: SC4_OFF.ELF
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Use USB
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Use Custom ELF: SC3_OFF.ELF

What is the best 60hz video mode to use for PAL games in OPL?

Use Mode 3 and 6

Use this OPL

Use Mode 2

Use Custom ELF: SC4_OFF.ELF

Use USB

Use Custom ELF: SC3_OFF.ELF
USB is choppy, thanks for other options. Where can I find the compatibility modes for games? I have PAL ones.

I happen to agree with Fannste954 on the USB part. So far from what I've seen and heard regarding loading and playing PS2, and even many PS1 games via USB, it DEFINITELY IS QUITE A CHOPPY EXPERIENCE, OVERALL! Truly slower than not only physical disc and Ethernet SMB, but also loading from HDD. Nice to know about those different available modes, as well as discussions about the ELF format, btw.

Can you elaborate more?
Especially that part about PS1 games.

Because from what I remember PS1 has double (2x) speed (CLV) CD-ROM drive
which is equivalent to 300 KB/s:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_technical_specifications#I/O_system_and_connectivity.
On the other hand PS2 USB ~1.1 can reach ~750-900 KB/s.

So can you name\list a few PS1 games that suffer from slow bandwidth (choppy experience) through USB port in PS2?

I know for certain about PS2 games suffering from slow bandwidth aka choppy framerates due to a number of different factors. size, and the overall limitations of USB 1.1 as to bandwidth. PS1 games are at best a slightly mixed bag: feasible, and slightly better than most official PS1 models but not like SMB ethernet, or HDD storage. Mileage will vary based on the game.

What PS1 games?
List at least a few of them.
Well, I know that one either needs to install a modchip such as Matrix Infinity or Modbo, or alternatively use POPstarter for the Fat models, though of these methods, the former has more success, from what I've read, though still not 100% or 95% compatibility. I honestly don't have first hand experience with with either as of yet when it comes to USB loading, but if I do manage to install a modchip in my PS2 along with Mechapwn exploit, I would rather go with physical discs, HDD storage, or even go through the trouble of setting up SMB network.

You still did not answer my question which PS1 games have a problem through USB, however everything is smooth through SMB or HDD on PS2?
If there are so many of them you should easily wrote down at least a few of them.

I agree with you that PS2 games in many causes stutters especially in FMV, but I still do not understand from where did you get the info that the same scenario is with PS1 games?!
I even gave you a link with PS1 technical specification in which it is written that PS1 has double speed (2x) CD-ROM = ~300 KB/s.
PS2 USB 1.1 can reach higher bandwidth.
So how can PS1 games stutters?
In which part? Gameplay or FMV?

What is the point to have in tandem\simultaneously Mechapwn and modchip?

Through USB, SMB, HDD you can launch PS1 games with POPStarter.
DKWDRV (SCPH-750XX or higher) and PS2PSXe support USB.
None of these app give you more than 70-80% compatibility and they have their pros and cons (still missing XA/CDDA audio support, etc).
Modchip can give you ~95% compatibility (depends on a model and a console version) for PS1 games (from CD-ROM disc).

List at least a few of them.

Maybe ones that use alot of audio / fmv streams, though don't know any ps1 titles that mimicked the laserdisc or 32x fmv overlay experience, it was pretty much phased out after the failure of the saturn & atari jaguar.
I guess the easiest test would be removing the disc an seeing at which point / time in seconds it becomes unplayable from it's current set of ram stored assets, some games print out a error message.

@SanjoXJ218 None PS2 model have 100% game compatibility with PSX game played via PS1DRV. Worst have Deckard models (SCPH-75K and newer). POPS/POPStarter are emulators so they have far way lowest compatibility, but Hugopocked made many patches which makes before problematic games now fully playable.

In case of USB, slowing down or stuttering isn't fault of USB v1.1 because that's twice faster than PSX ODD. You experience incompatibility issues, or your disc images are fragmented; or Your USB is slow as turtle, slower than PSX drive.
