OpenTuna

PS2 OpenTuna - An open source version of "Fortuna", based on reverse engineering! v2.0.1

Format card (full one, not quick, in case you have bad blocks which can be marked and excluded during the process). You have probably, for some reason, broken MCFS.

I'm sorry I don't know how to format the Memory card. Can the FS be repaired? OPL, Funtuna, Opentuna, nothing is installing. Am using FreeDVD method to access USB and MC

Hey guys I've got a SCPH-90010 with OpenTuna installed, I got it like that from a friend. The problem is that I can't get it to start OPL automatically from the corrupt save game.

What happens:
  • When I press O to launch OpenTuna I get stuck on a black screen, OPL never starts, black screen forever.
  • If I hold the O button instead of pressing it then it starts ulaunchelf, that being said I am able to execute EFL files from there, including OpenTuna, yes it works fine when I launch it from ulaunchelf file browser, from /BOOT/BOOT.ELF, but does not load when I single press the O button from the memory card screen.
What I've tried:
  • Tried both memory card slots.
  • I tried to run the OpenTuna installer again but it freezes on the installation screen, from any memory card slot.
  • Tried a second memory card.
  • Wiped the memory card completely and used another memory card in slot 2 to reinstall OpenTuna manually, same deal, I can get ulaunchelf to start by holding O but by single pressing O I get a black screen.
  • I was able to install FunTuna and it ran fine, but the same issue happens, from the FunTuna system menu I can launch OPL no problem, but if I setup FunTuna to launch OPL automatically I get the black screen.
How can I troubleshoot this further?

You guys wouldn't believe it, it was my wireless controller that made it get stuck in a black screen, as soon as I removed the controller dongle from the console OPL launched, then I can plug it back it and it will work just fine.

Hello everyone, I am new to PS2 modding and I am confused by the various entry methods available.

The system I have is a SCPH-90004 model, and based on the research I've done I should be able to use Fortuna, FunTuna, or even freemcboot if I am lucky, which may not be the case as 9000x models than can run freemcboot seem be manufactured earlier on than my model which was manufactured according to the label in 9C, 3rd quarter of 2009.

And now I have come across this forum post about OpenTuna, which is making it harder to decide what is the best entry method for my system.

My goal is to restore my PS2 and be able to load backups of my original games via the MX4SIO memory card to SD card adapter, and I am also confused about this as other online resources suggest to use a specific build of OPL to get the best results with MX4SIO, instead of the latest beta from the github repository.

If someone can help me out I would really appreciate it :)

Neither of those are "entries".
You need an ACTUAL "Entry" like FreeDVDBoot!

Get (download & install) Funtuna Fork! That has everything you need.

...and NO! Take the latest Beta from the official OPL repo!

Could you please link me to the forum post where I can get the pack from?

Got it, latest beta from the github repo.

Thanks for the reply.
