PS2 OPL is not seeing my games on my HDD

It's just as the title says. I've got FMCB on a memory card, a third party HDD adapter that uses SATA, and a drive. No issues running homebrew at all and I've even tested OPL running games off of a flash drive and it at least recognizes it and runs (albeit poorly for obvious reasons). I followed the instructions in this video exactly:
to no avail. uElf can see the drive location itself but it doesn't see anything on it either. I'm using OPL v1.2.0-Beta-1970-2c2245 and a WD Blue 500GB Hard Drive. I've even made sure the disk sector size is 512 and the drive is formatted to exFat. I've tried just about every other solution I've seen to no effect. I've got both the BDM Start Mode and HDD Device Start Mode set to Auto. If anyone has any other ideas that would be very helpful.

MBR or GPT? i am not sure which is needed (or if both work), but it might be something to look into.

As a side note, I've also tried many of the newer versions, such as Beta-2082-c27f39, Beta-1996, and even gone back to v1.10 with no effect whatsoever

Found a workaround, if I use HDL Dumb/Dump it will actually see the games. I was hoping for similar to the video but this will work for the time being.
