After recently covering the Skeleton Key project for the original Xbox, many people were excited to set it up for themselves with a compatible USB drive and adapter. Although this can all be done with off-the-shelf components, several people saw the customized USB drives and adapters specifically made for Skeleton Key. After several people asked how to get them... Well, the open-sourced secret sauce is being revealed! Watch and see how you can build your own Skeleton Key setup from scratch, complete with the logos and branding to really make it stick out.
Once you have Skeleton Key running you can keep your console stock, perform any needed maintenance, softmod your console, or maybe even do a combination of those options. Skeleton Key boots into the PrometheOS launcher which contains several utilities such as FTP access, EEPROM backup ability, and a DLC / Update content signer. The real magic here is the included applications, which at the time of recording are:
