PS2 Parasite eve 2 dont work in my ps2 77x

I have a problem with my ps2 with matrix chip with parasite eve 2 the game freezes after selecting a new game I have tried the patched Spanish version and I have tried the American version having the same result I have tried these games on a playstation 1 and playstation 3 and they worked perfectly other ps1 games work perfectly on the console it could be some incompatibility

Parasite eve 2 has known compatibility issues with slim model ps2's There's 3 spots it usually freezes at, they are when the lens stops briefly.
-before getting to Dryfield for the first time.
-after the disc change.
-reaching Neo Ark for the first time.

Saving before those points usually avoids the game freezing. But it is a PITA.

it's possible it has ap protection, which will affect legit discs as well. it just has to detect the modchip. I forgot how, but I know you can, to disable a matrix infinity modchip. it's like holding eject on the console when powering on or something iirc. I don't know if that's what's going on, but it's possible.

I don't have an original copy of the game, so the version I use has a patch to disable the protection. I also used an American copy with the same result
