Physical DVD disc needed to play games in Multiman

Hello all, is it normal behaviour for multiman games to only show up in BD unless a physical disk is in the DVD ROM drive? Ie: I load a game from multiman, then I am brought back to the main PS3 games menu but can only see the game I selected in Multiman if a physical disc is in the drive. If no disc is in the drive then the game does not appear. The disc in the drive can be any game by the way. I havent tried non PS3 games yet.
