Play PS2 games online on a jailbroken PS3. Is it possible?

Hi guys, sorry if this is posted somewhere, but I couldnt find it.

I am new in this PS3 Jailbreak stuff, but I am good with technology.

I just jailbroken my PS3 and installed Rebug.

I am running PS2 games via Multiman.

They game is running fine, its PES 6, very good game. Really like to play it.

I also know that PS2 server is down, but there is some private servers where we can still play online.

I use to play this PES 6 online on my PC (which has not good harware). I play online with no problems on PC.

But I was trying to play the game online on my PS3, which I found out that isnt possible.

When I try to go online on PS2 game (PES 6) running via Multiman on my PS3, it shows a network error, like theres no internet connection.

On PS2 via OPL, we need to setup the network using that ISO.

I even tried to run this ISO (network setting disk) on PS3 via multiman, which runs just fine, but whe I select the create the settings for the network it shows the error NO HARDWARE IS CONNECTED. MAKE SURE HARDWARE IS CONNECTED.

I have searched a lot, and I have created an account here only to ask this.

Is it possible to play PS2 games online on a jailbroken PS3?

I can play it online on PC, but I found no way to configure the network on PS3.

Does anyone know a way for this or is it impossible?

Thanks since now, and sorry for any english mistakes. I am Brazilian.

When I run OPL on a real PS2 over SMB. I get red screen like you.

Loading from HDD or USB. It works on real PS2.

As for on PS3. I don't know that netemu (ps3 software emu) supports (it doesn't appear to)

Peripheral support

ps2_emu.self / ps2_gxemu.self

  1. Hub
  2. Mouse
  3. ....
  4. Modem
ps2_netemu.self

  1. BD Remote Control
  2. PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller (Vendor ID 0x54C, Product ID 0x268),
  3. Motion Controller - Move (Vendor ID 0x54C, Product ID 0x3D5),
  4. Navigation Controller (Vendor ID 0x54C, Product ID 0x42F)
  5. "guncon3"

As far as i know PS2NET_EMU doesn't support the emulation for the PlayStation2 Broadband Adaptor.

The PS2EMU and PS2GX_EMU support that feature, only found present on the original 2006 and 2007 PlayStation3.

(Correct me if i am wrong)

I have tried Netemu before. Didnt work as well.
I ran out of ideas.
Can't believe that theres no way to play a ps2 game online on a jailbroken ps3.
That cant be serious hahaha.

You need XLINK Kai on your PC to Play PS2 Games Online. But just works on PS3 with Games who have LAN.

Thanks mate, I will take a look at that.
Hope it works.

One question only. This wont mess up with the connection to the regular PS3 games right?

I mean, I can play my PS3 games online with no problem, I just wanna play the ps2 games online, which I am playing using Multiman.

Is Multiman the best option for this? I mean Multiman + XLINK?

Thanks.

There its nothing to be serious about, its just how things work, back in the CECHA/B/C and E era, PlayStation2 Backwards Compatibility was still justifiable, Sony needed to make sure, they got the 100% PlayStation2 Emulation, that included the peripheral and hardware support.

When PS2SoftEmu was discarded in favour of the PS2Net_Emu (PS2 Classics), Sony didnt see the need to make the PS2 Emulation with Optical and Peripheral support, because the NetEmu wasnt designed with these things in mind, the Broadband Adaptor its one of these problems, not to mention the Pressure Sensitive Inputs are also absent, this its due to the design of the Limited Title Compatibility with the PS2 Classics, where the PS2Emu and GX_Emu, had to support almost 90% of the PS2 Titles, including PS2 peripheral support!

So is there a way to play ps2 games online on Slim by switching emus or by hacking one of them?
If netemu doesn't have network features, does softemu has network compatibility?

If softemu has the network/online feature, could it be imported/hacked into netemu somehow?

I'm not sure. my guess is that it doesn't, since there are a lot of things wrong with it. one good thing about it is that it doesn't require activation like netemu does (ps2 classics), but I guess that doesn't matter since you can now use isos with netemu.

PS2Softemu its a discarded emulator developed through the lifecycle during the CECHG Models as a replacement for the PS2GX_Emu, because of the exclusion of the PS2 Hardware on the mainboard!

The Emulator was never finished, it was incomplete, buggy and unoptimized, and it was only found on firmwares 2.60, and even then the console needed to be on Factory Service Mode to be able to access the emulator, of course files do exist, which can be swapped on the dev_flash folder, it works with the 3.55 on FSM,but i am not sure, about higher firmwares.

Of course if you are intrested, ill leave the files here attached, but use it at your own risk, any soft-bricking,dont come and complain :)

Forgot to add: Backups wont work, even with Custom Firmware, only authentic PlayStation2 Software Titles are acceptable by the Emulator

I believe that wont be possible, i fear the PS2SoftEmu and PS2NetEmu uses different parameters and execution codes, remember, PS2SoftEmu its a direct code port of the GX_Emu,the problem was that with the absence of the Graphics Synthesizer chip, the GS Job had to be moved to the RSX, the problem was that the RSX isnt meant to this task, and it couldnt run efficiently on his own.

Damm... Network would be awesome :(

If ps3 don't use RSX for PS2 emu, it's only rendering graphics using CPU through software emulation?

I wish we could run every 3d game on 1080p just like pcsx2 or at least add another filter to the PS button: "scanlines" for 2d games.

The CECHC/E Models containing the PS2GX_Emu will upscale the PS2 Games to 1080p, the CECHA/B will only do 480p due to the complete PlayStation2 Hardware inside, but i think it does the same as the CECHC/E Models.

PS2NetEmu its capped at 720p, you cannot expect PCSX2 Quality on a hardware that it was not designed to do the task to begin with. The PlayStation2 although it might sound like a weak machine, its actually pretty complex in terms of emulation, not even the PlayStation4 with the PS2 CLASSICS can emulate the PlayStation2 Titles at 100%, i own a majority of the PS2 Classics on PS4, and although the quality its decente, much better than the PlayStation2,which its obvious, even in the titles that the Emulator suppose to be optimized,it still presents bugs, for example vertical lines on Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, poor framerate on Ape Escape 2 and Bad Sound on Rogue Galaxy to name a few.

The PS2NetEmu, already its a well developed emulator, Sony did a very good job in optimizing it for the PlayStation3, it preserves the originality of the Hardware Effects, which emulators like PCSX2 sometimes struggles to replicate, on example its the Metal Gear Solid 3, on the original PlayStation2 hardware, the game its presented with a yellowish hue filter, same can be sayed for the PS2NetEmu, but for example PCSX2 in hardware mode, cannot replicate such effect, only in software which its the closest you will get to a authentic PlayStation2,but at the cost of performance.

A PlayStation2 code being executed on a PlayStation3 Hardware and without the aid of the Original Hardware, already its a astonishing achievement, like it or not the practice of reselling PlayStation2 titles that you already own, you got to admit, that the PS2NetEmu, its a solid, even with its flaws, its better than if Sony just pulled the plug and declare the PS2 Backwards Compatibility gone.

Regarding the PS2 Graphics Synthesizer being moved from the RSX to the CELL, i can assure you that the CELL isnt meant for that task, it has to emulate the Emotion Engine, let alone the GS, CELL its a CPU not a GPU, it cannot preform Graphics Task, although ive heard it can be used on Graphics Applications like Ray-Tracing.
