PS3 Playerkp420's -- 4.80 DualBoot Firmware

If you are a PS3 Custom Firmware user and would like to use OFW but would like to return to have the ability to return to CFW? Some may say why would a CFW user's want to use an OFW? The most logical reason to many would be playing your games from disc on PSN with a reduced chance of being banned from the network. The dualboot firmware starts out as 4.80 Official Firmware (OFW) but then minimal files are modified only to allow for a CFW install from 4.80, and no this will not jailbreak your PS3, you must already be on CFW for this to be of any use to you. "I am happy to share my Dual Boot OFW 4.80.

I have been working hard with real life, and on my Cobra CFW in the little spare time I have. I seen someone looking for a dual boot OFW, and thought I would help out. Since nobody else made one yet, here it is.
    1. Made from OFW 4.80.
    2. ECDSA check patch applied to isoldr in lv0.
    3. ECDSA check patch applied to spu_pkg_rvk_verifier.
    4. Same metadata applied to keep the exact same size as OFW. (see pic below) Even all the encrypted files inside CoreOS are the same size.
    5. Can be installed over OFW 3.55 and any CFW with a lower or same version.
    6. While on this DB OFW 4.80, you can install any CFW with the same or higher Syscon version.
    7. Can only play disc based games and games downloaded from PSN."

"For those that don't know, this is for a safer way to play on PSN. It is suggested to have 2 hard drives. One for CFW, and one for this DB OFW. When you want to act like your PS3 is not jailbroken, insert DB OFW HDD and install Playerkp420 DB OFW 4.80. Then you can play as you are on OFW. Then when you wish to go back to CFW, insert CFW HDD, and install your favorite CFW. It is important to keep your DB OFW HDD free of any homebrew apps. To prevent Sony from seeing them. Keep all your CFW stuff on your CFW HDD.

I personally tested this on my CECH-2501A, and my CECHA01. On both I went from Playerkp420 4.80 Cobra 7.3 to Playerkp420 DB OFW 4.80. Then back to Playerkp420 4.80 Cobra 7.3. On the NAND model it did say no applicable update from XMB, and made me install from the recovery menu. But I was able to go back to CFW from the XMB. Not sure if that applies to all NAND models, but it is recommended anyway to boot to recovery menu after switching HDDs and installing either DB OFW or CFW with Option 6..

HABIB 4.80 Cobra Will it be released?

This is CEX only and your saying I can't install this over 4.80 OFW? :p

And thanks for this as I was looking for one the other day as I gave my child a PS3 on 4.78 DB then 4.80 came out. Been looking for one as I don't want her to have a full CFW but if I wanna play with it I like not having to refit my E3

Thank you very much....Although this is the safest online option, people sometimes (without wanting cheating) want a 'safe as possible' piracy cfw due to financial restrictions etc.

'Vanilla' firmware with psn patch (stealth) and irisman (stealth) would have to be a second if not a close second.

As i'm sure you are probably aware, many in the community are craving a 'vanilla' 4.80.

Would you be gracious enough to provide one. You know you are trusted/respected in the community in your knowledge and skill.

Although there is one somewhat stock cfw available in ferrox by Alexander, it is heavily modified way beyond the minimal necessity, which goes against any one's personal psn safety precaution checklist.

If you have the time, awesome... if not thanks for all your previous and future contributions to the scene.

By the way, add a paypal/etc donation link and i will be the first to donate in appreciation.

All the best mate and thanks again for your ongoing contributions.

Hi, i have an internal 120 G hard drive installed with Rebug CFW 4.80. what i want to do is to install this dual boot OFW on it to play to an original psn game which freezes on CFW. and use a new 500 G hard drive with my rebug 4.80 CFW. my questions are :
1- do i need absolutely this dual boot ? can i install directly the play station OFW on one hard drive and a CFW on the other HD ??
2- do i need to format my actual 120 G in PC or can i use the option : "restore PS3 system" from my PS3 settings ?
3- do i need to do something to my new 500 G HD which will receive the CFW or i can just plug it in the PS3 and install the CFW from USB ?

thank you for any help and advises.
