PS3 PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 4.70 Now Live

Sony has released official firmware update v4.70 and as expected this is a minor update, However, Sony does this time around have a few features they would to tell you about in regards to Closed Caption Features on BluRay and DVD disc. See the details in the change-log notes provided [break]s[/break] below:

Official Firmware v4.70 Changes:

  • Closed Captions are now supported for the Playback of Blu-Ray Disc titles and DVDs. To display closed captions, select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions].
  • The style used for for closed captions, such as the font, size and color, can now be adjusted. Select [Settings] > [Video Settings] > [Closed Captions Settings].
  • The name and icon for
    psn-icon-20feb15.gif
    (PSN℠) have been changed to
    playstation-network-icon-20feb15.gif
    (PlayStation™Network).
  • UPDATE: IDPS Stealer has been patch in 4.70

That's not enough. Besides not working :)
You also need to include index.dat, version.txt and a 4.66 vsh.self spoofed to 4.70.
Carefull read psnpatch docs as it is described how it should be done.

It is not a great hassle (in fact is rather easy), but taking in consideration the past week psn server changes,
I do not recommend a version spoofer until being perfectly sure that a 4.66 spoofed to 4.70 is not easily detected by Sonia ;)

It is not like that. Don't spread rumors. Read PSNPatch docs.
Furthermore there are many other changes in 4.70 besides simple spoofing.

C'mon Sony!! Seriuously!!!??? Just "Close Captions" for BD/DVD? And not native MKV support from XMB or external subtitles on MP4 yet?

I think their devs spend too much time on Facebook, instead of adding real features.

BTW there is a test build of IRISMAN for devs making CFW 4.70
IRISMAN_3.44_BETA_TEST_ON_CFW470

If someone could get me a dump of 4.70 lv2 would be helpful :) (not a lv2_kernel.elf)

Just replacing unused/expired certificates probably won't be much use by itself. A bitmask is used to select which certificates will be loaded, the expired ones will not be included in the bitmask used by libssl or vsh.
Oh and the MD5 hashes of the certificate files are checked against hardcoded values (again in libssl and vsh) so that would need to be patched for new certificates to work.

Patching the bitmask and the MD5 check should be fairly straightforward, but presumably outside of what a spoofer would normally be doing.

(In 4.66 anyway. I doubt 4.70 is any different.)

On FERROX 4.70 ( Test Version ), IrisMan goes, only fitting that the games do not start. Or rather, give black screen.
I had sent the same version of MP, and I had asked a DUMP LV2 to correct the error, but I could not because I was studying.
