Possible? Yes, I think there's even one already floating around somewhere.Would it be possible to create an OPL PS2 iso and run it like a normal PS2 iso? And then load PS2 games from an NTFS external HDD from OPL?
Netemu does not have access to networking, that was only on BC models, even then it is pointless to do such a thingI know I sound crazy but what about somehow mirroring the ps2 vmc externally via network then loading games as multiple 8MB blocks instead of 3-4GB blocks with FAT32 or possibly 32MB or 64MB, memory cards are switchable via the pause menu at least so Softemu still has some access to the ps3 filesystem.
When you will stop derailing threads? You constantly digging up old threads, to ask questions completely unrelated to the topic? Forums aren't chats, even on Discord you cannot write anywhere you want about anything...I know I sound crazy but what about somehow mirroring the ps2 vmc externally via network then loading games as multiple 8MB blocks instead of 3-4GB blocks with FAT32 or possibly 32MB or 64MB, memory cards are switchable via the pause menu at least so Softemu still has some access to the ps3 filesystem as both readable & writable.
OPL can play games from SMB shares, so not totally pointless, but since it only supports SMBv1, which is a security disaster, I wouldn't recommend that.Already exists https://consolemods.org/wiki/File:OPL_1580.iso
But as other people it does not support NTFS and it can't be used with netemu, you're better off creating PS2 classics pkgs instead for convenience

Only specific titles had full HDD access on gxemu and ps2emu, not netemu again, also memory cards run on a different basis but I'm not really sure how that works, but what I know are that trying to run a image off a actual memory card will result in a memory card is corrupted error, OPL .CFG are different than the ones used for netemuI meant Netemu anyway, Softemu was a typo sorry.
As for network access, i'm not talking about the ps2 host/lan or the internet, but the ps3 filesystem for mounting the ps2 vmc storage that can be swapped out between memory card 1 or 2 on the pause menu, that's linked to the xmb.
The mmce fork of OPL will list the CD or DVD contents from the root of a normal 32MB or 64MB non mmce / mx4iso memory card in pcsx2 if you disable hdd, host & usb an place the OPL.ELF in the of the root memory card folder for it auto generate the OPL folders & files itself.
I tried a 21.3MB iso of ulE v4.40h in the CD folder but it failed to recognise the path to mc0 or mc1 on both a 32MB & 64MB card, the log in pcsx2 shows it as
mcman_cex: mcman_open2 port0 slot0 name /CD/uLE v4.40h.iso flags1
if a games.bin is placed in the same folder, I took the doner file from usb.
OPL is reading the config file from CFG/SLUS_999.99.cfg
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I messed up the filesnames or something though because usb still didn't work in OPL with pcsx2 on softemu regardless, it kept saying it was host an tried to reading the iso from my windows hdd drive instead of usb, is games.bin supposed to contain the path prefix before the isos?
If your running multiple devices with isos how does it know where to load them from? unless it just takes the games.bin path from each device you switch between.
I think only Final Fantasy XI had HDD access on the PS3. Someone was trying to figure out what triggers the PS2 emulator to emulate an HDD but the research was abandoned because it has no practical use.Only specific titles had full HDD access on gxemu and ps2emu, not netemu again, also memory cards run on a different basis but I'm not really sure how that works, but what I know are that trying to run a image off a actual memory card will result in a memory card is corrupted error, OPL .CFG are different than the ones used for netemu
