Sometimes the PlayStation Stars program has collectibles for having owned different color/model PS3 versions. Question is, is it possible to spoof say a black PS3 to appear to Sony as a blue, red, or white PS3? Have had a jailbroken PS3 for around 11 years now and have never seen this question asked, as I imagine there has never before been any reason to do so. I would imagine it's the model number that reports to Sony, so any way to spoof the PS3 model number? Thanks in advance. :)

Why would you do that?. It's a HUGE CALL to get banned and expelled from the program.

While I do appreciate you taking the time to reply, it does not answer the question and is not helpful.. If I choose to risk a ban or to be expelled from the program, that is my choice. I also have more than one PSN account and more than one PS3 (all jailbroken since around 2010-2011 when I had to use a Teensy whatever to jailbreak them, and not one has been banned as of todays date). An account and/or console ban or being removed from PS Stars for one of them is not a concern. People have risked bans for trophy unlocking too, and have been banned for it, yet people still do it. Even going online with a modded PS3 poses a ban risk, yet people still do it and no one is saying "Why would you do that?" Again, thank you for you time but it's not helpful to the question at hand. :)

At some point, i had two PS3 consoles. My slim model was banned, so i took the idps from my superslim and spoofed my slim. They both had the same idps, so i could continue a save game from one console to the other.

I noticed that my slim was showing minimum version as 4.20 which was the superslim's minimum.

So i think you can do that and spoof the console type.

It's very helpful to call out for any possible ban risks procedures, to prevent people from trying stuff out of curiosity without the proper warnings.

It doesn't matter how many consoles you have, or how many of them are hacked. It's the same issue with hacking trophies, only this time it's a rewarding service with stronger and tighter policies. You could get sued for simply trying this.

Hacking trophies doesn't return you anything, only self esteem. Hacking achievements for Playstation Stars on the other hand, is simply stealing, it's cheating the system to get free stuff.

It's very irresponsible to ask for a how-to on this issue. But anyway, here is the answer:

Change your console's IDPS and that would be enough.

Thanks for your input. That makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, it I was able to get an idps from a red, blue, white, etc. model... I wouldn't need to spoof them to another console to begin with. I'd just log on to PSN in OFW mode with those consoles. If there's no other way, then that's that. I don't have the idps's for the needed models and I'm not going to try to buy them from anyone. Thanks again for your help. It is appreciated. :)

Asking a question is not irresponsible. If that's the case then are you also on every other thread that could possibly lead to a ban saying how irresponsible it is? Are you messaging evilnat and all other devs on how irresponsible they are because their offerings could possibly lead to a ban if people don't know what they're doing? No? Didn't think

And stealing? LOL! Please do go on and explain how cheating to unlock a PS Stars "trophy" is cheating the system to get free stuff, but cheating to get a game trophy is not. I'll wait. Getting a PS Stars collectable does not reward your account with points or anything other than the collectable "trophy". I could see your point if I was asking how to unlock PS Stars campaigns to get free points to later redeem for PSN credit... but that's not at all the case here. It feels like you're being a contrarian/difficult for the sake of being difficult and are playing holier than thou a bit here. I mean, do you know what site you're even on? C'mon, man. Stop it.

Someone else already answered in a more than polite and decent manner. Your second post was even more unnecessary than your first.

There is no way to determine color version PS3 by model. Sony doing it probably by IDPS range recognition as You thinking. So You need one of those to spoof Your PS3.

Whatever, good luck!.

The serial number is the key to determine which model, color, date, version, release region, etc.

The IDPS is the only thing that we know of that has all this information available to be used over PSN. I don't think the eID root key has this kind of information embedded, it would have been a nightmare for the console factories!.

idps contains a lot. cech-b models do not have wifi and using an idps from one on another model will disable wifi on it. region info in there as well.

the fact that idps change also changes minver could lead to bricks for unknowning tinkerers.

i looked it up on sony site and the rewards for the program do include real stuff, including free games. IMO that makes this against rule #1. we do not help anybody get (or fix) games that they did not buy or earn rightfully. even if you do not intend to take any real things, someone else may use this discussion to help themselves to free games. that means i must close the thread. it may even get deleted later.

in a word, DITTO. rule #3 covers this. everyone here should be respectful of everyone else who is here also. if you dislike someone, ignore them. if you can not ignore them, block them. not being helpful is not the same as being disrespectful.

My CECHB is spoofed to be a CECHA to enable WiFi access seeing as mine didn't come with mine and was added later.
