PS3 Problem with fan and switching off

Hi. I have a backwards compatible ps3 and I have a problem with it and I'm not sure what's wrong with it and I need some help. Basically I switch the console on and it starts up fine but I'd say within about 10 seconds as the Sony logo just comes up on the tv screen the fan starts ramping up and goes extremely fast then it bleeps 3 times and you switches off and you got a red light. Not sure what it is but a few things i have checked to help anyone have an idea what wrong with it is I've tried another power supply and hard drive and also another fan. Also I've cleaned the console and put new thermal paste on the heat shields.but none of that has made the slightest bit of difference. Has anyone got any ideas what may be wrong with it or know anything I can check or do to find out what's wrong with it. Thanks.

Hi. Yea that's what I was thinking so I renewed the thermal paste on the cell and RSX but it's still doing it. I was wondering if there's a sensor faulty or something telling it it's to hot when it's not as it's only on for a very short time or does it need delidding and new thermal paste under the heat shields. Am thinking of trying delidding it next as I want to practice doing it and I don't want to do it on my other pS3 as that's my best personal console which I use and can't bring myself to delid that one on my first go lol. I have brought a delidding tool to do the cell and the thermal glue to put the Rsx shield back on and the silicone to put that back on after and clamp to hold them in place while the stuff sets so I got everything I need to do it so I think I should practice on this faulty one first.

I think you should now use the TTL uart to read the syscon error code to see where the problem is.

Yes I do agree but I haven't got one at the moment I need to buy one so I thought I'd ask in case anyone's had this problem before and know what's causing it.

It could be a contact problem causing rapid overheating, or it could be a problem with the thermal monitor.
