PS3 Problems with Screen Flicker (general) and PSX.isos (Webman)

Hi guys,

I have recently and successfully JB'ed a PS3 Slim with the current CFW (Evilnat CEX 4.90) and the most recent versions of WebMAN-MOD and Multiman. In general, it all works, I can play ISOs of all systems.

But so far, I have encountered two issues:

When browsing through the XMB, there occur, what seems random disconnects and reconntects with my screen. I have my PS3 hooked to a Full-HD PC-Screen. When the issue occurs, the screen turns black for a moment and then comes back. It is accomanied whith a clicky sound from my screen. When using the screen with my PC this sound usually occurs, when the PC makes a resolution change or another parameter is changed. PC and screen then reconnect and the new settings are applied. Under PC, this is normal behaviour, but why is it happening constantly when browsing XMB on the modded PS3? (Edit: Could it be that my XMB is crashing randomly?)

The other issues seems to be specific to WebMAN-MOD: I have some PSXISOs that seems to cause problems with the game list. Most are displayed normal but for example Tomb Raider which has single cue and bin files each, is added to the Gamelist a multitude of times. After adding TR to the PSXISO Folder, it shows up 20 or so times in the gamelist under the same name and the same location.

Are these issues known and are there fixes for them?

About the screen flickering, try using a different cable and/or monitor to check if you get different results.

In regards to the PSXISO issue with webMAN MOD, it looks like your game is in multi .BIN format. Cobra only supports PSX ISO in single .BIN/.ISO image. You get the file listed multiple times because webMAN MOD is detecting each BIN as a different game.

This limitation is already explained in webMAN MOD documentation
PSX or PS2 disc images using multi .BIN files (or .BIN + .MP3) must be converted to single .BIN/.ISO image + .CUE file. If only the .BIN or .ISO exists (without a CUE file), only the data track (track 01) will be used. Some games fail when the audio tracks are unavailable.

Here is a tutorial about how to combine Multi-Track BIN Files for PS1 Games using CDmage

Thanks a lot!

It was indeed a hardware issue. I have the PS3 hooked to a HDMI Switch (3 in, 1 out). After moving to another "in"-port everything worked fine. Interestingly the same port and cable did not cause problems with a PC and a 360 that have been connected to the same port before and after the PS3. Is the PS3 known to be picky?

Thanks also for the help regarding the PSX game. I have merged multibin images before but I just didn't think that Tomb Raider had so many cd-tracks. Mergin got rid of the many entries. I should have inspected the folder before posting.
