Hey guys,
Now before I begin, I have to say that temporary burn in is still a real thing with LCD/LED TVs even though lots of people online claim that it's not a thing anymore. Read the manufacturers comments about it if you don't believe what I'm saying.
I'm having some issues with new TVs and image retention while playing the PS2. I decided to purchase a new 32" LG just for gaming and I noticed while using the Retrotink-2X and PS2, I was getting image retention after about 5-10 minutes, HUDs and text being the most obvious. I read the Retrotink docs and they state that using 480i to 480p with the device can cause burn in to happen quickly, and specifically state the PS2 as a problem device. So I took the Retrotink out of the mix and just plugged directly into the TV. Same thing with 480i or native PS2 games - burn in after about 5-10 minutes.
I returned the TV and bought a 32" Vizio full-array LED. Same exact problem as the LG. I've played with the backlight and contrast and turned them far down and still have the issue. Both TVs have been IPS LED displays.
Is there something I should specifically look for in a TV to avoid this issue? Are the sets I'm buying too cheap ($140 to 160)? Does anyone have recommendations on brand and/or exact model that you don't have problems with? My requirements are a maximum of 32" and a maximum weight of 15 lbs due to the mount arm I use.
Thanks for any help.
