PS2 PS2 and Pops on HDD

Hi everyone,
I recently picked up a Fat PS2 (SCPH-50004) and I'm looking to build the ultimate internal HDD setup. I've successfully installed a 1TB HDD via the network adapter and am booting via an FMCB memory card (HDD entry point).
Currently, my PS2 library works perfectly. I'm using a SATA-to-USB adapter to transfer games from my PC and OPL Manager for the artwork. However, I've hit a wall trying to integrate PS1 games.
Every time I create a separate partition and transfer VCD files/ELFs for PS1 games, OPL stops displaying my PS2 library entirely and fails to show the PS1 titles. I've tried several tools and re-formatted multiple times, but I can't seem to get both libraries to coexist.
I am looking for a definitive workflow or tutorial that covers:
  • Adding PS2 games and artwork to an internal HDD.
  • Adding PS1 games and artwork to the same internal HDD.
  • Playing both libraries via OPL on a Fat PS2.
  • Performing all transfers via a PC SATA-to-USB adapter (avoiding LAN/SMB).
I'm getting pretty frustrated with the trial-and-error process, so any guidance on the correct partition structure or software versions would be greatly appreciated!

This sughestion may look slightly advanced, but if you managed to install your ps1 games to either MX4, MMCE or ExFAT HDD, try to label its title with a double space to identify it as a PS1 game. You will easily see the PS1 games on APPS folder once you did. PFS Batch installer, I think is the program I used to install those ps1 games.

Is there a Popstarter for ExFat?
