PS3 PS2 emulation or PS3 with retrocompatibility?

Hello, I tried playing GTA Vice City Stories through the PS2 emulation on my PS3, the game looked bad, it performed terribly, made me quit the game, but then I got myself asking, how does playing PS2 games natively on PS3 feels and looks in comparison to the PS2 emulation?
don't have the money to buy a retrocompat PS3, just out of curiosity, tried searching about it and found no real answer

if you do not have a backwards compatable ps3, you can use config files to improve some games. get them here. use the "custom" ones.

Semi-BC (CECHA/E) systems actually make PS2 games look better then full BC models (CECHA/B) but supports less games. But as stated use CONFIG files to increase compatibility on some games. I have managed to find four BC systems pretty cheap locally and a PS2 is super cheap these days of you have the funds. And great strides have been made with soft modding. Especially the SCPH-500X models can be made to run homebrew and backups essentially like having a CFW
