You mean something like this:

If yes, replace the battery (CR 2032).
Huh, i was wondering this myself. I recently went in my loft and found a 50003 model in there. For some reason with its power and eject button plastic missing and all the screws in it gone. I actually think it's my childhood PS2 and we forgot to piece it back together all those years ago. Still works nonetheless, but i got the ball freeze and thought the system was trashed. But i'm glad to know it's a battery issue.

The "towers" grow with the number of games that you have played, as well as the number of times they were booted. The data in the history file on the memory card keeps track of the towers' growth.
The time is stored in the RTC, which is backed by the battery. System settings are stored in the MECHACON NVRAM storage.

For some reason, my console doesn't save settings in "mc1:/BEDATA-SYSTEM/" (where I keeping my MC with FMCB). So I dunno to be honest if this is even works such way. Since I have NA+HDD, I don't using MC.

If you have a memory card in slot 1, then the card in slot 2 will never have the history data there updated.
Only the the OSD or late versions of FMCB & OPL will update the history data. So if you have been gaming with old PS2 game loaders or skipping the normal boot procedure, the history file is never updated.

The PS2 is set to English by default.
It's only English for export sets, outside of Japan. Japanese PS2s will default to Japanese.

So if game was boot via FMCB>>ESR in slot0 it will also not update history file? It must be game booting directly like i.e vanilla OSDSYS>>game or FMCB>>game?

Does we know how file structure looks like? Looks quite simple but... Well, I never see full "city" in browser so it should be doable by hand. :)

But my PS2 is not a Japanese one, and that's the point, isn't it? FreeDVDBoot requires the PS2s to be English by setting, and that's what my PS2 is.

EDIT: OK I'm sorry. I thought we were talking about my PS2. My PS2 is an American one and defaults to English.

Sorry, I forgot to mention FMCB. But again, it's only done by FMCB v1.9x.

I copied the code, but don't have documentation for it.
