PS2 PS2 Phat disc tray no longer stays closed after changing the clock battery

A couple of days ago, I changed my PS2 clock battery. After reassembling it, the disc drive worked fine. However, the disc tray no longer stays closed. Every time I open it, it closes by itself, which wasn't the case before I took it apart.
Yesterday, I bought an SW-92SA and reapplied lubricant, but it still didn't solve the issue. Now, when the tray opens, it's a bit slower. I was thinking it either needs more lubricant or a new DVD belt. Since reapplying lubricant didn't fix the issue, I was considering changing the belt.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an exact replacement for the PS2. Most of the belts available on Shopee or Lazada are for the Xbox 360, turntables, cassette players, etc. However there are assorted disc belts I found on both platforms so, I was wondering what the correct size and thickness of the belt are. I did find one on eBay, but the shipping was expensive. Shopee or Lazada is my only option since I live in the Philippines. AliExpress was terrible in my experience my order took almost a year to arrive.

So for starters I'm not sure what this SW-92SA is? Is that a part number on the eject motor?

On the PS2, lubricant is more of a helper for the long term it doesn't do anything for the tray when it is already struggling.

The belt isn't an exact science, you can just buy a pack of those black hair rubber bands (make sure they aren't the synthetic plastic type) and use the medium size one, that will do just fine and actually does better than the factory ones. They just need to have the proper tension on it which is easier to do than you realize. Those packs of hair rubber bands are like a buck in any store that carries hair products.

Lastly you shouldn't have an issue yet as if you replace the belt and have the lubricant that may be enough to solve the issue, but the eject motor itself will go out as well and that will ultimately be your main culprit, once those get weak all you can do is replace them. the belt an the lubricant won't do a thing at that stage.

It's a Chinese brand synthetic grease, but thanks for the response anyway. I actually made things even worse a couple of days ago. I took the console apart again because the disc drive kept ejecting itself. This was after the fourth time I disassembled it.
(For context, the third time I took it apart, all I did was remove the top cover of the disc drive and re-lubricate the rails again. Unfortunately, that didn't resolve my issue the issue was still the same, and I wasn't satisfied, so I disassembled it once more.)

This time, I decided to reseat the ribbon cables, thinking that the eject motor cable was loose since the blue plastic piece had come off after reassembly. However, after putting everything back together, the eject button stopped working entirely. When I pressed it, nothing happened it didn't even blink anymore.

Then, while boiling the disc belt, when I put back the belt I accidentally knocked over the drive without its plastic shield on. I managed to put everything back together, but I noticed the mechanism felt stiff. I probably damaged the elevation arm and the eject motor. Since I couldn't find a replacement online only on eBay, but once again, the shipping was expensive, and I had to pay an additional customs fee, I decided to give up and found someone on facebook group who fixes PS2s near where I live. I'll just bring it to him when I have the time.

Thanks again for the reply. What started as a simple clock battery replacement turned into a disaster. I successfully replaced the clock battery in both my PS3 and PS2. The PS3 was a success, but the PS2 was yet another failure. Out of all the consoles I've worked on, I find the PS2 to be the most frustrating. I probably won't disassemble a PS2 again in the future.

I also just realized that instead of unplugging the ribbon cable from the motherboard, I removed the cable attached to the laser instead. I should have disconnected it from the motherboard instead I feel dumb now. -_-
