PS2 ps2 slim (79001) not recognizing usb drive

i have a ps2 slim, specifically a 79001 model that i use as my preferred ps2. i would like to hack it to play some of my backed up games, but its not recognizing the usb drive if its already inserted into the console, but if i remove and reinsert it, it shows up, until the program being used on the ps2 changes. the reason this is an issue, is OPL will recognize it if its reinserted, but then if i open a program it freezes. i do know that this is an issue with the ps2 itself, because i swapped everything over to my second ps2 which is a 30001, and it worked perfectly, no hassle. does anybody know whats going on, and how to fix it? i really prefer the 79001, the 30001 is really loud, and barely fits on my desk.

Try a different USB disk.

well, i tried that with two other drives, one had the same issue as previously, the other worked, thanks!
