PS3 PS2 Splitted ISO

I dont find any information on the forum concerning the non-playability of PS2 splitted iso

I had mine iso installed inside my internal HDD years ago , i will not elaborate why i HAD to extract them out the console before changing the Faulty HDD before loosing everything (over 100 PS2 ISO) but i understan now that when i installed them they was in ONE PIECE Image ISO , when i extracted them the console splitted the one that was over 4Gb automatically on my external Fat32 HDD

I made some testing tonight to realize that it appear that ONLY one piece image iso (under 4gb) are working , all the splitted one (over 4Gb) are not working anymore

Any way to fix that ?

Please save my year

EDIT : it appear that NOT ALL the splitted iso games are not working , i just stumbled on 007 Quantum of Solace (SLES) that are seem playable (at least the 1st mission) , Same for Batman Begin (SLES)

BUT from Russia with Love (SLES) dont want to start , same for Ghost in the Shell stand alone complex or Alone in the Dark.

?? what a headache...please help me and explain me what happen ?

Cobra payload only supports split ISO on PS3.

For PS2 it is still a to-do. As the ISO only plays from internal HDD that supports large files, this feature has a very low priority (in practice not needed)

IWhat you are trying to explain to me ? there is a way to fix this with my already split iso inside my internal hdd ? ( i dont see any option to "fusion" them back inside the console) I will have to delete everything again and ensure myself that i only install FULL image iso in PS2ISO folder ?????

not a ps2 iso, no, is what aldo is saying. you can transfer the entire disc image using an ethernet cable, which is what I recommend with ps2 games. I'm assuming you put the game on fat32 drive, then copied it to internal.

Ohhh Gosh.... i guess its couple step backward to be able to go forward and achieve my goal ....one of theses days i assume
Thanks

ethernet is what I recommend for anything going on the internal hdd. I don't even have a Gb connection with my laptop, and I still manage about 10-12MBs/s, so it's pretty fast. probably two or three times that if you have a gigabit connection, since the ps3 does.

WAIT a minute :) lol
maybe you will make me save a LOTS of time transfering my compilation (that im actually re-updating with full image iso)
how you proceed to transfert them via an ethernet cable Pinky ?

the method i used initially was that ALL my PS2 ISO was installed individually one at the time from a single usb stick in NTSC and used Multiman/mmCM PFS Driver to activate the usb stick ....but it was a LONG process for over 400GB of PS2 iso..... :(

I normally have to bridge my wifi and ethernet connections, but you can connect the ethernet to both sides (laptop or computer and ps3). that's about all you have to do. I think you might need to assign a static ip to both connections. anyway, I think there's a tutorial on psx place somewhere. it's not difficult. I don't even think you have to bridge connections, but a lot of the time I have to, which is highlighting both connections in network settings, right clicking, then selecting bridge connections. it causes the yellow exclamation mark to go away so it's signed in to both the internet and the ps3.

this might work: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/very-simple-way-to-direct-connect-ps3-to-pc.17052/

I usually bridge mine as I said though.

Move your split files to /dev_usb000, rename the files as:
/dev_usb000/mygame.iso.0 => /mygame.iso.66600
/dev_usb000/mygame.iso.1 => /mygame.iso.66601
etc.

Go to multiMAN, then copy /dev_usb000/mygame.iso.666** to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO

multiMAN will join them for you ;-)

Only the FULL of your PS2ISO image will work. The parts may work, but will freeze at some point because only the first part is loaded.

Its a good alternative , but i messed with freshly installed 1.5TB so much by installing/erasing PS2 ISO so much to a point i fear that ...i dunno , its not clean as a mirror in my head. I mean i didnt had a crash , maybe dozen of freeze and force shutdown but nothing too dramatic asking me to rebuild database/filesystem. but still , if i only replace the splitted ones i will feel i made a butchered job. i assume i will feel better after full flush and single clean installation of 4.86/latest Webman

So probably my best alternative is to transfert the whole compilation that are actually on a external HDD in NTSC format plugged to my laptop and connect to PS3 with Ethernet Cable. I will check this option but at least i know i will have an alternative re-marrying iso together , thanks

you can merge those split isos back with copy /b game.iso.part_1 + game_iso.part_2 game.iso in cmd prompt.

replace the game.iso.part_1, etc. with the name you've given to the parts. that's assuming you no longer have the full iso.

I have exactly 10 PS2 games that are over 4GB , it should not take that long before transfering my disc back in image iso but im still debating with myself if i only replace the 10x splitted ones for full iso in my internal PS3 HDD ...OR...if i make a real good clean up and start from ground. aside theses PS2 ISO i only have Metal Gear Solid Franchise installed and game size really start from MGS4...

Maybe a good clean up will clean my head from all the littles digital spiders i encountered since two year and i will sleep better lol
I will finish rebuilding my PS2 FULL IMAGE ISO collection and i will check what i will do next (for installation , if i only replace 10x games or full flush and re-install only the essential)

I have three ps2 games on my ps3, and one, mega man x collection, is supposed to have issues in storm eagle's stage according to the compatibility list. I haven't tested it.

Managunz have support for both of the formats used in splitted games, and as far i remember there is an option in the filemanager that allows to "merge" the splitted parts
Enter the filemanager, click in triangle in the first part of the ISO and there should be an option to "merge parts" (or something like that, i never tryed it)

This feature was intended to PS3 games though, not sure if is going to work with PS2
I dont remember to read about splitted PS2 ISO's so i dont really know if some homebrew supports any function related with them

I think the root of the problem is the backup managers are "passing" the ISO as an argument to the PS2 emulator (so the PS2 emulator is the responsible to load the ISO as a single file)
And when we boot a PS2 game the PS3 does some kind of "soft reboot" and unloads most/all the PS3 firmware (because the PS3 firmware is compiled to run on the PS3 processor, but the emulated PS2 cant run PS3 code)

In other words... when we boot a PS2 game we have a "virtual PS2" that only runs PS2 code
So the other custom features implemented in PS3 code (like the support for splitted ISO) are not running

Why not try some easiest way? Burn your iso to a re-writable dvd and make an ISO out of it, using multiman or any preferred launcher. After that, erase the disk and burn the next one and so on....

Or better yet, burn your iso to normal dvd so you can have a disc backup always available.

I remember you, being extra anxious when you were using an other profile and always trying to get results by using methods you didn't completely understood. So try the easy way, imho. Hope I helped

thanks

Thanks , Im in the middle of re-do my 10 PS2 iso that was splitted (and shortly deleted by me , too fast) but at least im sure that now everything will work just fine WITH the CONFIG compilation too ;) Thanks guys

Hi Aldo
sorry for the late reply

I managed to merg all the multi part for PS2 ISO , now all games are in 1 single part ISO and working properly.

My Question right now is :

I understand the PS2 ISO would NOT work since they was in multi part
but did its the same for PS3 games ?
I have a PS3 game in form of JB Folder (apparently it have part inside that are bigger than 4gb so my initial try to transfert it via USB will not work , i will have to use the filezilla thing.
my plan is to transfert the JB folder in hddo GAMES folder , then create an ISO from it and since im bottleneck in HHD free space size I HAVE to move the ISO into splitted part on a FAT32 USB stick and then i will transfter the game into a dedicated EXTERNAL FAT32 HDD for PS3 Splitted ISO....

IT IS OK/SAFE to play any PS3 games into SPLITTED ISO from an EXTERNAL FAT32 HDD ?
its not the same issue than for PS2 ISO I presume and i will be just fine ?
