PS2 Xenosaga emulation help

Hey guys

I don't know if this is the right forum or not, correct me if I'm wrong please.

I'm playing Xenosaga emulated on managunz and I'm stuck on a part where I need to enter a room (agws shop in Kukai). The characters just stays locked in the same place and I have to reload. :(

I read that this is a known issue when playing on some PS3 models and it works fine on others, but the thread were 10 years old.

Does anyone know how this can be corrected? I noticed there are configurations to mess with on the menu but I have no clue of what to do and I would really love to complete this game.

Please help

Thank you so much

Hmm. I don't remember loading any file. I. Just loaded the ISO and ran it from xmb, that was it :/
Inside managunz click triangle over the PS2 game icon (or cover), this opens a menu (either sidemenu or fullscreen), then select the PS2 config editor (displayed at fullscreen), in it you can see which configs are availables, and the config you are using now (if any)

There's none there for Xenosaga episode 1 unfortunately.

I know that some people do custom ones but I don't have the knowledge to do that.

The main reason I wanted this was because the game has a glitch reported on all 80gb PS3 that when you enter a specific room, it freezes you on a spot and you can't move away :/ but on 60gb PS3 it works just fine.
I wondered if someone had a mod to correct this. I don't have a PS2 anymore so I can't move temporarily to another console to get to that part of the game :(

Are you using an 80Gb CECHE01 i presume, or you mean the 80Gb (NON BC)? Xenosaga Episode 1 NTSC-U version its stated as Playable (with PS2Net Emu) and playable with (GX_Emu) 60/80Gb PS3s.

PS2NET_EMU: Game work fine dumped from original DVD-9 media, OTP to PTP patched version required for true PS2 console not work.

PS2GX_EMU: Yes - Running in place occurs when entering the AWGS Academy in the Kukai Foundation for the first time, making the area and its upgrades/sidequest inaccessible. The game can still be completed.

As stated in the PSDEVWIKI and IPFS.IO (PlayStation2 Compatibility List).

Hello. Can you dump your memory card with save near that place? I should be able to fix it, but i need save game close to that point.
Keep in mind that creating fix will be time consuming, at least 1-2 days. Also, do you use SLUS or SLES version? US, EU?

This is my edit, and now is actually not true anymore. OTP/PTP stuff no longer needed since fix in ps2classic, and bug from GXemu seems to exist here too. I wasn't so far in this game yet.

Thats the price to pay for the 60Gb and 80Gb owners, still to this day i regret that Sony gave us the gimped version on the US 60Gb, skipping the EE, and instead relying on the CELL to due the workload, the problem its that the CELL cannot emulate the EE, and games that rely on the EE are simply unplayable (R&C comes to my mind), not to mention the absence of the EDO RAM in the COK-001 boards.

Cell can emulate EE very good. Believe me is better than X86 procesor for that task ;) For this game only small float calculation correction is required. R&C is different story, there is no chance to make it 100% work. PS2_netemu don't even support mipmaps that R&C require.

Of course. I have a save game 30 seconds before that area. Is it fixable? :D

Just let me know what I need to give you :)

And thank you so much

Well ill leave it for the pros for that matter, i am a designer not a program engineer, i can barely memorize Java or HTML codes, further more PlayStation functionality, but i understand the point, just code its outside my range of knowledge, but i like exploring a bit every now and then to be updated :D

But still, its better to have 50% original hardware than nothing (i am looking at you PS2_SoftEmu) :D

I'm currently on rebug 4.82.2 and I am playing the iso version
Btw, in managunz you can click triangle over game icon ---> check MD5
And post the MD5 here, this way you two are sure that are talking about the same ISO
It takes 5 minutes or so to complete the MD5 check

You sure ? i always thought "Shadow of the Colossus" uses mipmaps and seems to work fine in netemu
  • ICO - minor issue, god rays are still missing

This is only known mipmap dependent issue for this game. I'm not sure, but i think it is also valid issue for netemu.

Nice, this make things easy :D

Go to /dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc and just copy your VM2 files (those are memory cards) to PC. Pack them with rar, zip, or not pack at all. And finally upload them to any host (mega, zippyshare, mediafire), and post link here.

I'm on it.

Thank you guys so much for all the help :) it may seem stupid but this is one of my favourite games ever and I was so sad to discover I couldn't play it properly anymore (my laptop doesn't run ePSXe that well)

I'll be right back with the md5 and the link

This is the data I got from md5 check
