PS3 PS3 Black Screen after starting a game

Hello. I recently tried playing my old PS3 games, but I only met with a black screen when trying to launch a game. GTA V doesn't launch at all. The disc stops spinning, the HDD LED goes out, but the TV is still receiving 720p signal. But some games run just fine (like GTA IV) and some just freeze on a loading screen mid-game (like Hitman Absolution). After pressing the power button (when console is freezed) you can hear 3 beeps.

Here are some things I already tried:
- Formatting the HDD
- Rebuilding the database
- Fixing the file system
- Replacing the HDD
- Copying games over to HDD with MultiMAN (aborted mid-copy, disc is like brand new)
- Cleaning the console and replacing the thermal paste

I have no idea what to do now. Please help.
 
Is the game an ISO or a JB folder?

ISO games have better compatibility than games in JB folder format.

For JB folder format, sometimes inserting a PS3 disc in the bluray drive help with the black screen issue.

The causes of black screen can be multiple:
- If you're on HEN, using dynamic mode of the fan control is a known cause (starting a game increase the heat of CPU, making the fan control write to memory in a stage that the hypervisor detect as a fault). Using manual mode generally fixes this issue.
- Another common cause is a corrupted/modified game. This generally happen with games obtained illegally from Internet. Dumping your own game discs generally solves this issue.
- Bad memory patches. It may happen if an outdated version of a backup manager is used. e.g. using an old version of webMAN MOD.
- Bug in Cobra/HEN/Mamba payload. This is a less common issue, but could happen.
 
I'm having a issue here,
after installing HFW 4.91 and installing HEN,
every homebrew app is showing a black screen, forcing me to force shutdown the console..,
tried multi man, irimsan, rebug toolbox.. all show black screen, soft locking the console. tried rebuilding database and restoring system files but nothing worked.. what can I do from here? I have a CECHG04
 
I too have the same issue.

HDD light stops blinking
Screen stays black
GTA V, Black Flag, GT 6, PVZ GW, Lone Survivor, Valiant Hearts and the list goes on!

I have uninstalled webman, Irisman, Multiman, I have even changed harddisk (which worked for sometime before the problem coming back)

The games that work, continue to work flawlessly, while the games cursed with black screen just don't budge no matter what I try.
 
Hey guys I was having the same issue with GTA V.

Before starting the game, select the game in my case the inserted CD, then press triangle button, in the menu choose to check for updates. It downloaded A LOT of updates for GTA V, it took over an hour to finish. Then BANG it worked!!!
