My ps3 cecha was on 4.81.2 rebug, and I decided to update it to the latest evilnat firmware. However, after updating the screen is blank. I tried booting into safe mode, however it does not detect my controller and is stuck at the press the PS Button screen. I tried various cables, controllers, ports, and they all did not work.

Also, the sound is working as I can hear the booting sound

The PS3 safe mode requires an original SONY controller. You can't use it with a third-party controller. Just try to get an original Dualshock 3 and the safe mode menu should work with it.

All my controllers are official ones, I am very sure. After turning it off for a while, I was able to use the system update option in safe mode. However, the update does not complete and the screen freezes. I turned off and and then back on after waiting for half an hour, and the ps3 boots in to a system update screen (distorted, showing half of the picture stretched to full screen) and freezes. It does not seem to be updating, and I cannot see any movement on the progress bar as the screen seems to be stuck.

Oh. Then I believe your system is bricked. If you already did a NOR/NAND backup (which you should always do), you can use a flasher to de-brick your PS3. Otherwise, I believe this PS3 is dead.

If you have the NOR/NAND backup but don't want to flash it, and if you choose to just get rid of the board, make sure to provide the NOR/NAND backup along with the board so that it's at least salvageable to someone with the proper flasher tools. Otherwise a bricked board without the backup files is unrecoverable.
