PS3 PS3 controller turns off by itself

My Sony PS3 controller turns of occasionally by itself while I'm using it. I think that battery is not a problem since it happens also when the battery is fully charged and when it turns off you can turn it on again and play for some period of time (for example 5 minutes), then again it turns off, and I can repeat that cycle for like 7 days without charging.
Anyone knows what could be a problem?

it's Bob Rooney!

i would try a different battery anyway (if you can). i have fixed a weird controller problem before by changing the battery. before changing, it would only work correctly when it was charging.

I would say is the battery too, i never opened a DS3 battery, but most/all have a tiny chip that monitors the charge and is the responsible of the rechargue cycles, sometimes it starts doing weird things because is storing wrong info

The way to "reset" that chip is either by opening the battery and disconnecting a wire (to remove all voltage from the chip)
The other way is to discharge the battery completly, an easy way to do it is by connecting a PC fan to it and leave it all night spinning... at the next morning it should be emptyed :D

First of all thank you guys for trying to help me.

Ye, it's me Bob Rooney ;)

I tried to "reset" battery chip both ways but unfortunately that have not solved my problem.

Guided by your advice that battery is probably the problem I took a battery for my other controller (that works normally) and put it in controller that keeps turning off. But that also have not solve the problem. Problematic controller continued to behave the same way even with other battery, meaning that it's not the battery.

Is there some cheap on the controller itself that I could reset or do you have guys some other advices I could follow to try to solve my problem :)

Can you tell the circuit board model ?, if is an official it should be one of this list:
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/DualShock_3#Printed_Circuit_Board_.28PCB.29_versions

There are only 3 or 4 components related with the battery chargue

I don't like to bump threads but I don't what to do more :(
I searched the whole internet with no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

It's a "VX8 0.14" model.

Sorry for my delayed replies. I'm travelling a lot lately.
Check the component named Q2, this is a transistor that "switches" in between 2 power lines... either USB power or battery power

Im guessing your controller turns off randomnly because the Q2 transistor is unestable (or some other component related with Q2, as far i remember there is a resistor somewhere directly connected to Q2)
The problem is this kind of unestabilities are tricky to check, it could happen that everything works fine while you are checking it with a multimeter, etc... (but later it fails when you are not looking at it, aggg, traitor)

So... what i would do is to replace Q2 and see what happens... yeah, electronic repairs sometimes goes this way... do you best to find where is located the problem, then replace components, and pray

Maybe you are lucky and there is something visually weird in that area around Q2 ?, cocacola or some shit
In that case clean it with a toothbrush and isopropil alcohol
