Ps3 crashes when using homebrew

Hi team, just recently jailbroke a cechl02 ps3 to rebug 4.86.1 cfw which had a bluray drive fault using another 24pin bluray drive i managed to get my hands on anyway when i install homebrew through the package installer on the cfw it installs everything no problem eg rebugtoolbox multiman etc but when i boot into any of these programs the inital boot goes and then it blackscreens on the app, ive checked to see if its a problem with the hdmi input but i dont think it is, does anybody have any ideas about how to fix this issue or any ideas on what might be the key issue. the only thing i can think of is it having a bung bluray drive and me having not remarried one to the system but im unsure if this is the issue any help is appreciated
