PS3 PS3 FAT CECHC04 - COK-002 - GLOD - no video on HDMI and Component

Look at the thread on this site, the eraser pressure mod by naked snake (see pic). You can use an eraser and cut it to size, so no need for thermal pads.

If 32 percent fan speed is too loud for your ears then your ears better get used to the sound of three beeps followed by a yellow and flashing red light! [emoji6]

Seriously though at least set the fan speed to 28 percent as a minimum, this is a low level noise which I'm sure you can handle. Whatever you do don't leave it on system control (syscon), that is part of the reason these consoles died. Letting the system get hot before cooling it down is a one way street to failure.

Yep. I've set the temp to 68c for CPU. And around 31% is disturbing at night. If I'm not playing only installing stuff. 30% is acceptable. I'm considering doing a water cooling mod with this baby. Both CPU and GPU can be cooled.
Maybe 120w will be enough to cool both?

Adding tantalum caps to complete the mod

Sent from my SM-G988B using Tapatalk
Is it enough to solder only 3 tantal caps to the circled area? There is no point to solder to at the green negative side . Or do I just need to scrape a bit of the green layer off of the motherboard?
On the heatsink side is not recommended? Thank you.

If your not experiencing unexpected shutdowns then don't do it. It seems if your GPU is failing or it has been recovered with heat, this will result in a YLOD.

I know this because 1 out of the 4 I knew it was likely it had a recovered GPU. When I added the caps to this console it just gave up. So 3 out of the 4 worked with the piggbacked caps but 1 failed, as I said I'm pretty sure its down to the recovered GPU.

So the bottom line is there is a risk of failure and should only be attempted if the console is shutting down unexpectedly or has YLOD and needs tantalum caps.

Do you guys have any idea why it freezes to blank screen after i quit playing a game, or app? and cannot come back to xmb, it only freezes. :/

No, but the BR drive was missing, and I've put the drive back, and it solved the problem. Thank you! :)

edit:
was strange because ISO's were running fine. :)
Glad you managed to solve your problem, I'm happy, and to be honest I'm a little jealous, what a shame on myself:rolleyes:

is yours a CECHC? Is it 100% or something is still missing to make everything look like new...

When I said BD I did mean the blu-ray drive, glad it's now working

Thank you guys. I really appreciate we the 3 of us here having a great discussion. =)
Tim, what was the BD suggestion then? Lol
Xbr, there's still one that is on glod. And some parts are still missing and I've been payed for them. Lol don't be jealous. =)

If your going to all that, you might as well mod the PSU so it's external and have the fan actually cooling the system instead of just the PSU.

Bougth erasers, But 1.6cm by 1 cm 4 mm thickness falls into the gap, and touching the back with many capacitors on the back of the cell. Should it be okay, or should it sit on the motherboard? IFAIK (or remember, it shoul sit in the cell case, on the motherboard.

Yes, the pressure is applied directly to the motherboard in the small indentation on the top side of the board (Left hand side where the cell is) just search for eraser pressure mod using Google and your find it. It's Naked Snakes mod and it works well.
