Could some one help me out giving some information wich guide i should follow and do i need to re-format my ps3 hdd ? and how to get the most recent best CFW version on my Phat PS3 that doenst have a bluray drive available?

kind regards, sorry for the bad english grammatica :)

extra info, my PS3 fat was on OFW 4.35 if iam correct, and tried just to follow the youtube tutorial.

Unfortunately you will need to make sure you have a BD drive connected to update, it does not matter if the laser or mechanism is broken, but it needs to have the circuit board properly connected and working.

The only other way would be if you had a hardware flasher and patched the console for CFW using that.

is the bluray drive connected? if the laser is dead but the drive's logic board is good you will be able to update anyway
EDIT: damn @DeViL303 beat me to it :(

hi thanks for reply, The dbdrive itself is not inside the ps3 anymore because..

I have a e3 flasher (bought a few years ago for my ps3 SLIM) this flasher nowdays work on the FAT model? so ye where and what do i need to do?

edit: i got an PS3 FAT : CECHG model

Oke, just opend the playstation, the reason i removed the drive was that the connector on the mothrboard is broken, the connector itself so not the ribbon..

If the trap is broken you can use something like a thin piece of plastic to make it do pressure on the connector. But, If you can't, that E3 is useless, because that phattie has a NAND type of memory. Using teensy is complicated if you aren't good at soldering, so try to use the first solution I gave you. Make sure the console is reading discs before updating.

i have a fat ps3 with broken BD, and i was able to install cfw but i was not able to start any homebrew apps. screen just went black as i tried to start them. I tried 4 different cfw and finally found one that worked for me. google " PS3-482.2-rebug-rex-nobd" and you will find a downloadable file. Download it and find the multiman in same version 4.82, that solved the problem for me.

You only need to be able to get the drive working for a few minutes, just long enough to install 4.85 HFW twice. It depends exactly how your clip is broken, but it might be possible to get it working temporarily.
