I just wanted to post this for documentation's sake.

I recently started learning how to perform Frankenstein mods on the PS3. I already had a background in electronics repair and (small) BGA replacements which helped a lot. Because I had never done GPU's or CPU's, I learned to lift the RSX on defective 80GB models as I didn't see any other use for them than for parts.

My latest attempt was on a CECHC. It had YLOD but I did manage to boot it once and it did stay on for a while. I lifted the core perfectly off this device and was able to place a 40nm on it. I also replaced all NEC Tokins with the PCB design that RIP-Felix made.

All seemed to go well, no errors in training or other syscon modifications but sadly the device did not boot. I checked the Errorlog and got the a0213013 & a0202120 combo. Since I'm certain I did all other mods correctly (Voltage & resistor mods) I'm fairly certain that it's just a bad 40nm RSX. I was already on the fence about it because the readings weren't all what they should be but I didn't want to waste a 40nm.

I'll try and source a "new" 40nm RSX and see if this manages to fix the issue. I'll also update this post once that's done though it might take some time until I can find one.
