@Naxil I moved your thread from the Tutorials subforum :)

In answer to your question about FTP clients - personally I use FileZilla and have it set to Active as opposed to Passive. Active will ensure the connection to the server i.e. the PS3 is maintained, whereas with Passive the connection can be interrupted during file transfer(s). I'm not sure what you mean by "Right encode" however.

Set to Active and you should have no issues; there's no password and you just connect on default FTP port 21 (though I think all clients including FileZIlla assume this by default when you hit 'Connect').

How do you make it so that your FTP info (IP and connected clients) is always displayed on the XMB? My old PS3 had CFW and I remember it being able to do that, but not sure if it was exclusive to DEX mode, Rebug, Toolbox or whatever. And is there a way to remote install packages over network like with the PS4?

Speaking of which. Almost all tutorial sections are full of questions and problems threads instead tutorial threads only which making it hard to navigate and seeking tutorials. :/ IMO great cleaning is needed.
