ps3 game install

well i have 2 ps3 one is a cechj and the other a 3000 series, the cech j is running rebug 4.84.2 and the 3000 hen, my cechj needs a new bluray laser so i have ripped my gta5 disk plus update to folder format to install on the cfw ps3 just wondering where is all the files located because even though i have copied the files from the GAMES/games folder it still wants to install the 8gb game

The 8GB installation is in game folder and not games BLES01807_INSTALL (Europian Version) BLUS31156_INSTALL (Americain Version)

yeah i copied both the BLES01807 and the BLES01807_INSTALL folders from the game directory but it still chose to install weird
Doesnt really matter it would just be good if incase i have to do other games

As far as the 3000 series is concerned it has never installed that data so will force an install as the data is not present in the database, try rebuilding the database to see if that stops it from installing and add the data to the database.

Nope, one is a data cache for when the game is running as its need because the game is a massive open world sandbox and the other is a required install for the game to run at all. Both are needed.

There are quite a few games that do this, some are option installs, other's are manditory.

Skyrim - Is labaled as cache and is manditory....
BO2 - is labled as textures install in the options menu and is optional, decreases the map loading times of MP and Zombies maps etc.

so if i get this right what your saying is even though i have copied over the files to there right place the ps3 thinks that i havent installed them yet, and rebuilding the data base will hopefully fix it, is the only way to rebuild though the recovery menu or is there another way

As the PS3 installs data its added to the database. You have just copied it so its not in the database.

Yes from the recovery menu, it should work after rebuilding the database as long as the file folder structure hasn't been changed while you copied it.
