PS3 PS3 player not working due to motherboard problem?

Hello, well a while ago I tried to replace the motherboard battery, because it was weak and was not saving anything.
After that the PS3 player stopped working, it looked like it was stuck, it tried to spin but it wouldn't.
I replaced the flat cables, but the problem persisted.
Until a few weeks ago I took it to a technician, who said he changed all the flat cables, in addition to testing a new reader.
He sent me a message saying that the reader doesn't want to work because of a short on the motherboard or something similar.
I wanted to know if what he said is true, because when I changed the battery on the board, I was wearing proper gloves and it was a very quick procedure.
Is it really a problem with the video game motherboard itself or probably the technician didn't even change the player?
