  Hey Guys, I made a little mod for PS3 to PS3 PRO as long now we have PS4 PRO, and our PS3 (w/ CFW) just does everything better than a regular PS3 so i created this PS3 PRO MOD

okay. it says home/godreborn/.ps3 . is that the home folder in cygwin because I "don't have permission to copy and paste files in that directory." this is the issue I've had all day. I can't change permissions either or it errors.

Yes, it's using exactly the same path as mine... I dunno why you can't write in this folder...
But as I am a very nice guy I made another unself that will automatically use keys placed in a "ps3keys" folder placed inside the working folder

If you use the complete hash_newcalc folder from Joonie's github & replace unself by this file, you shouldn't have any more problems...

I fixed the permissions error. it still doesn't work though. I thank u all for the help, but I think something is wrong with my laptop. I've tried everything, but the keys r never found. :-/

You have a ps3keys folder at the same place as unself.exe & when you launch from the windows command prompt "unself game_ext_plugin.sprx x.prx", you don't get a x.prx file?

I don't know how that is possible because I just tested it in a Windows 7 virtual machine with absolutely nothing else installed on it & it works!

Here are screenshots where you can see unself producing the file & using the provided ps3keys folder instead of scanning for various places...

How to Install this MOD???

Manually...
The paths where the files belong are shown in the zip archive so all you need to do is copy them there, either via ftp or with a backup manager using a USB drive. To write to the Flash memory, you must enable /dev_blind, some ftp servers enable it by default but others do not, you must enable the feature manually in this case...
Remember to backup the files you are replacing just in case.

And be extra careful if you use a nand console (phat models CECHA to CECHG) because there is a risk of brick when messing with /dev_flash & it is harder to recover from it than with a NOR console.

 

@bguerville , thanks. I have the same paths laid out, so I don't understand what the problem is either. I still think it's my machine. I have problems getting a usb connection to work with the vita as well. however, when I try a usb connection on my parents' laptop, it works without problems. their laptop has almost nothing on it aside from a browser and an email app. I think something, perhaps a program, is blocking the connection. tomorrow, I'll try to use my parents' laptop to see if the same issue occurs. I hope not. at least then, I'll know that it's something on my machine.

my laptop has seen better days. the display is failing, the O button keeps falling off whenever I push it, it's completely cluttered with a lot of files on the desktop, and I have like 10 things plugged into it via a usb hub because I'm lazy.

I was afraid to ask for help regarding this matter, because I thought I'd feel very embarrassed especially considering I have a tutorial on this. thank u for ur patience, everyone. I don't often like to ask for help. I like to be the one dispensing it, but I certainly have issues here.

gameboot and coldboot sound use the same format - ac3. the problem is the length. I believe u can manipulate the length of the gameboot through its xml. it might say .936 in the length coding where 1.000 means 1 second. it's not total length but the length of a specific segment. the normal coldboot audio is several seconds long (longer than the total gameboot). whether that will be cut off is unknown by me. basically, changing the name of the audio isn't enough. u also need to change the video. I hope this helps, my friend.

The audio is short enough as it is in the gameboot to be used for coldboot. I know I could tear it apart and use it but the issue is there's no such tools to handle that format on a cell phone or tablet which is the closest I have to a computer right now. But thanks bud. I want to use my current "Transformer's" coldboot as my gameboot.

 

u could try amending the names. I don't know if it'll work. the normal coldboot sound is around 7xx KBs while the gameboot's is just a chime at around 2xx KBs. don't know about tools for a cell phone, but u might be able to use audacity on the pc. that's what I use to create ring tones. different format of course, but I did have "The Great Gig in the Sky" ring tone by Pink Floyd. it was so quiet though. lol

 

I forgot to mention that u can edit the ac3 files with XviD4PSP. there's a link to it in my white coldboot tutorial. it's been a long time since I've made an ac3 file, so my mind is a little hazy on how much u can do with the app. that is assuming audacity can't handle the files. of course, u could always make an mp3 with audacity and convert it with XviD4PSP. I believe that's what I'd do. not sure about any apps for cell phones though. I'm in the dark with that one.

Today i took some time to mess with the MOD

For now the changes in Upcoming V1.2

- Fixed Freezes on Themes
- Alphabetical Order in Game Column with All Language Translation in Side Menu
- New Trophy Icon ( IN XMB i cannot find where it is located, only in game
- New Official PS Store Icon introduced on PS4 OFW 4.70
- New PSN Icon (Old Style With Colored X, O , SQR, TRG) with Inverted Orb , (The previously one add in v1.1 will still remain as alt)
- In Game PSN icon Themed Too alongside with Trophy one
- New Keyboard Black like PS4 (Maybe i change it)
- New TV entry (I dont think i will add it on final version, because it's TV channels, for different countries it will requere a lot of work).
- Sysconf PS3 to PS3 PRO entrys

Now i want some new suggestions

 

Anyone knows which RCO is located the Trophy Icon in XMB ?
