Hi everyone! My first post here, I tried to search for my answer but couldn't find anything more than a single comment about my issue.
I bought CECH 2504 B. It worked fine, but It looked heavily used, so I decided to clean it. After examining the amount of burned dust inside I decided to ditch everything besides motherboard and swap it into my previous console with dead motherboard, with components and case in much better state. After cleaning, delidding, and reapplying the thermal paste I put it back together, and just in case I did something wrong and I need to open it once again I left the console without the upper lid. The console had booted up normally, I reinstalled the OS, signed into the PS account - everything worked fine. So I had put the lid back on and tightened the screws, it still worked fine.
After screwing the lid I noticed that I left the PSU screws and it sits loosely in the case. So I had opened the case, screwd the PSU and put the lid back on. But then I couldn't boot the console. After plugging it in to the socket, the red LED appeared as normal. But after pressing the power button the console beeped and it instantly turned off. Even the fan didn't kicked in. The red LED disappeared and I couldnt power it on at all. To make appear LED again I had to replug the power cord.
So I went googling the issue. The only clue I found was the comment saying that most probably the PSU is making short, and that's the feature to prevent buring the console. The answer was not to tighten the case screws to the maximum, just leaving it a bit loose. I had tried it, but it didn't worked. So I tried to put the PSU loosely on the rails, and it worked, but as soon as I pushed it to the position that it's full mounted, the power went off. So I tried to find the culprit that was causing the shorts. I tried to put rubber rings inbetween PSU mounting holes at the bottom and the EMI shield to separate them. I tried to cover with the insulation tape the soldered parts of the PCB that aren't covered by plastic case of the PSU. I tried to clean the PSU rails. Then I tried to cover it's tips with the insulation tape, thinking that maybe the were reaching too far. But none of it worked. I swapped the PSU from my previous console, no difference. So I disassembled the console, thinking that maybe I didn't screw something properly, but evereything was put correctly. So just to be sure I gently bent a bit more the metal "clamps" that fan and BD drive sit on, thinking that the opposite happens - maybe some components aren't attached to the EMI shield and that's causing the problem. I made sure every connector is plugged correctly. But it didn't work too.
I once had managed to place the PSU, screw it in and with open case I powered it on and everything worked. So I had put the upper case back in, but before screwing it in, I tried to power it on and the problem appeared once again.
If anybody could guide me what's causing this it would be much appreciated. Or maybe the PSU causing the shorts is not true at all. I'm out of ideas :C
