Hi! I've bought a PS3 CECH-2504B 1A.
The previous owner delidded the RSX, so it doesn't go over 60 °C.
However, the CELL gets too hot — it hasn't been delidded.
Using the system with default fan settings triggers the overheating warning in the XMB.
I've cleaned everything and applied high-quality thermal paste.
Thanks to webMAN, I've been able to set a max temperature of 72 °C and automatic fan speed between 40–60%, which keeps it "cool" and perfectly usable — no issues so far.
I'm thinking about opening it again and applying the thermal paste following the NSC Modz method.
Any other suggestions to improve this?
I saw the option to delid the CELL using the 0.06 mm wire method, but based on overall results with this model… I think it's a really bad idea.
If the previous owner didn't lose any, it seems this model only uses two small thermal pads — I'm planning to replace those as well.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
